it was about 75 outside today and the temp gauge was reading about 210 degrees. I drove probably 50 miles then went i popped my hood just to check things out and i noticed some rubber that was melted on one of my pulleys(alternator i think)
is the engine safe to run at 210 and why would my belt melt onto my pulley??

210 is average. As for the pully, I'm not sure.

Do you put belt dressing on the engine or something? These chemicals actually eat the belt and or make them very soft, soft enough to do this.
