97-2000 spans 2 different body styles and engines (95-98 and 99+)...just so you know.

99+ ones.... with the V6... watch for the LIM to be leaking. Check the front rotors. Only major problems I can think of.

Common 99+ problems...
The stock GM front rotors warp easily. Aftermarket rotors are fine.
The window regulators break and will need to be replaced.
The LIM leaks and will need to be replaced.
The 1-2 shift on automatics will be sluggish after high milage.
Some tires including the stock Eagle RSA rub on the wheel and make a grinding noise.
The front calipers creak and will required a heavy lubricant.
The radio volume control stops working correctly.

More 99+ issues...
Heater/Air Blower Motor resister blows - lose one or more blower settings
Front drivers power seat - stop moving freely up and down
Hub Assemblies wear down prematurely - causing some extra noise as well as possible ABS/TC issues (usually lamp will light) Aftermarkets usually fine.
But the biggies were covered by andrew - especially the LIM leak issue. (Can by as high as $700.00 to have GM replace or as low as free, depending on miles, dealership, how GM feels that day, etc). The rest can generally be overcome with aftermarket stuff if you have that problem.
