They are legacy red subs, 12 inches, for 11.99 each, is that a good deal for these subs, or am I getting ripped off? I dunno Sh*t about car audio, so, someone tell me please? I know I could go better, but I'm broke, and not a nut about getting my car to "Thump", I just want some more bass than stock, and these seemed really inexpensive.

they are absolute $hit, but if you want a little bump that's not really tight or good sounding even, go for it.

I think they're good enough for what you want....BUT
Once you get a little bump, you're gonna want MORE bump, and these subs suck, so maybe just get some good subs, and a good amp, and keep the volume low...Bass is addictive, once you've got a little, you need more.

Yes bass is very adictive. As far as those subs go... you know what they say you get what you pay for.

$12 damn thats cheap...I have steaks in my freezer that cost more than $12 lol
I'd save a little more and get something at least decent.

You can get DEI, MTX, Rockford Fosgate, Xtant, Prestige, Kenwood Coustic.... The list goes on.
All of these companies offer decent woofers for $39 to $59 each reatail that sound pretty darn good. You should be able to find a decent 200 to 300 watt amp for well under $200 installed with some of those brands as well.
I also see a lot of people here using the Infinity Basslink. While I'm not a big fan myself, it adds pretty good sound for well under $300 installed.

I am going to agree that you shouldn't buy those subs... only because you should spend a little more $$$ and buy the 1000 watt version....
Fot them money you can't go wrong...

lol ok check this out..i now a dude that bought a 20 inch radioshack sub....and a 600 watt radioshack amp and built a box for it..and get this....it had more low end than any other car with a grand worth of stuff(this was like 10 years ago when i was in high school)and i think he spent like a total of 50 bucks or some sh!t
......i know this has nothing to do with the legacy subs.....it just kinda reminded me of this............and i thought it was funny

OK, truth and dare time: Yes you can make cheap-ass stuff sound good. At Car Toys in Seattle, we had these $10 woofers. R/T, I think. They advertised them, but when people saw what pieces of crap they were, they'd look at our cheap Rockford series 1 as an alternative.
Well one day, an installer and I got REALLY bored, and since nobody had ever heard these things, we decided to build a box. SOMEHOW, we got the theil/smalls for the things, and plugged 'em into the computer box software. A box for 2 12's was over 8 ft^3!! lol
Well, with a little refiguring, we pulled off a box that was 4 ft^3 ported, with 4 12's mounted clamshell isobaric. Still huge, but doable. We built it, and hooked it up to his old Punch 150 in the back of his Geo Metro - it hit hard, and clean as hell!! Not high-end JL loud, but really solid bass, and actually extremely accurate. After hearing it, the store manager forbade us to ever let a customer hear that car. lol
BUT - there is a moral here.... In a smalle box, a single Series 1 Punch 12 that sold for $69 sounded just as good, and just as loud. So yes, cheap subs can rock - but their better-made brand-name counterparts are better.
Box is everything, people....

In my prevous car (88 prelude Si ) I had all Sony Xplod stuff , which included a 10" 450watt sub powered by a 500watt 4channel sony xplod amp) , it all ran me about 300 bucks(Ya gotta shop around....alot) but anyhow , it was more than enough bass for me , sounded great and the price was definatly right . Something you might wanna consitter getting . Just my .02
