My AC does not turn on until it hits 4 on the knob. I took the knob off thinking it might have slipped or something but the knob works fine. I tried a few things with no luck. Before I bring it to a garage to have fixed, I am trying to see if it is something that I can fix myself. In position 1-3 the fan is off and on 4 it works the way it used to on 1 and on 5 it wokrs like 2 used too. The car is an 03 grand am. The warranty is long since expired so please don't tell me to bring it in for warranty coverage.
thanks for the help guys.

Is the blower motor resister. Do a search for it. Its a cheap part and not that hard to replace.

OK so are there 2 resistors one for 1-2 and one for 3-5 or how does this work? Cause alot of the posts I see say 1-2 and my1-3 isn't working. Also if so many people have a problem with this shouldn't it be recalled since the part they have in there clearly is crap and defective.
