Not to sound too bad, but is there a sure-fire way to get my trans. replaced under warranty? My warranty runs out @ 80K and I have 72K now and from the looks of it, my LIM is starting to leak... I have a deductable of $200.00 for a warranty claim and I'd love to be able to get as much out of my warranty as I can (paid $1600 extra for what was supposed to be a 2yr/24K warr. and turned out to be 12 mo/12K... Not really trying to cheat anyone, but i've heard of many probs @ higher mileage and I don't have ANY extra money to throw around right now and don't want my car to crater after the warr. goes... I'm really in a tight spot right now and it's everything i can do to pay for the car itself right now, so any help with this would be more than appreciated... Thanks guys (and girls)

good question... i dont know if you can tell if someone has been doing neutral drops or not...

just manually shift all the time!!!

wonder if i could loosen a pan bolt or something to let all the fluid "accidently" drain out? lol

lol It would suck if you did something and the dealership found this thread. (Ok, not likely but still funny to think about)

Quickest way would probably be the neutral drops like Nick suggested.

How do you know the rebuilt replacement transaxle will last any longer than your current one? Some food for thought.

The dealer can tell if neutral drops were done repeatedly. The input shaft will twist surely not going to be warranty. The 4T40E and 4T45E have been very reliable in my experience. Don't worry about it. If its fine now, then just be a smart, gentle driver and be confident. Iíve only ever seen 3 of these transís become junk in my 5 years at the dealer.

Drain the fluid, have the tranny burn up, add fluid while the tranny is in the burning up stage. lol
