workin on my brother's 94. Its a POS but im tryin to get it back to decent running condition. I looked at the TB and its caked with oil. I look inside towards the intake manifold and the walls are caked with oil too. Not a caramel looking color, but almost pure oil. What are the causes and is there an easy clean that I can just spray in there??

PCV oil dealy + EGR gases = 1 nasty TB and intake mani
EDIT: pcv is NOT plastic piping

hmm... any ideas on clean up?

Is it ok for carb cleaner to actually go into/get sucked into the manifold/engine?

PVC for sure, I'd use brake clean on the TB and leave the intake alone unless you want to remove it to clean it correctly

carb clean it like a mofo. its fine if it gets sucked into the engine.

That cake up crap happens. Any stock engine will do that no matter what year-model or motor. Its caused by EGR, the PCV system and sometimes backfires.
Nothing to be really worried about because air flows around all that. In a carbeurated motor it doesn't happen because fuel cleans the walls of the intake on its way to the cylinders.
