I have a 2001 GT and the car all of a sudden was hard to start and then driving home the car was a little sluggish... unless I flored it then it was ok. I tried the car in Neutral and the car won't rev over 4000 RPM's... it just rev's like it's hitting a rev limiter or something. Back and forth from 3500 to 4000 RPM's, while flored. but I tried while in "Drive" putting it in neutral and hitting the gas and it goes all the way up.
Could it be cheap ass gas? a plug? I just changed the air filter not too long ago. :iconfused

^correct. if you are parked or neutral and are reving the car, it will not go past a certain rpm range.

is that right?? ok can anyone confirm there GA does the same... in park or neutral the car won't rev past 4000 RPM"s

As for the car being sluggish... well I konw it could be almost anything. I just thought it was related to the limited reving in neutral/park. I will start by filling up the car with good gas tomorrow. The car is a little low, maybe cheap gas or **** in the tank.

*iagree*Yeah, I have a '96 and it won't let you over 4K RPM while in park or neutral or even if your driving, you have to be doing like over 10-15MPH before you can shift into neutral and rev 'er up to 6000 RPM. Saftey feature to keep stupid people (not calling you stupid) from blowing up there engine. About it being sluggish, its an automatic I'm guessing, like mine, so until you hit about 3,300 RPMS in first, it will be sluggish but once you get past that...they take off like a bat out of hell. :)

If you are in park it will not go past 4k, and if you are in Neutral travelling less than 10mph (i beleive) it will also not rev past 4k.

check air and fuel filter

also...injectors maybe?

or maybe its 10000000 degrees outside and the car doesnt want to go any faster...i seem to have that prob alot :P

as for reving it ...no...its not supposed to go past 4k in nuetral when your going less than like 10ish mph

alright so it's official... the 4000 RPM limit thing is normal. Thanks! As for the car being sluggish... well this morning it was perfectly fine. Yesterday was really hot outside when I left work.. maybe it was the heat. I will see today after work again.

I concur... not past 4K in Neutral or Park.
