Okay I was browsing around on gaupgrades.net and I came across an incredibly expensive but somewhat promise-sounding mod. Level 10 Tranny Valve body mod....has anyone tried it? It sounds like that'd be worth getting if you were staying all motor power, just to make it all the more quicker.

No one I know of has tried it yet. I don't think anyone has pushed the HP limit far enough to break the tranny yet. The upgrade involves much more than valve bodies though. I was the one who originally found and contacted level10. Are you gonna be at the MPC meeting tuesday? If so, I'll tell you more about it then, 'cause there's a lot involved.:)

Lets just say i'm gonna have some sweet plans if the money ever lets me contribute to it..
And getting closer to it? Story is still the same, either I get a job and pay monthly payments, or wait till we sell the house.

There is a girl in New England somewhere that had Level 10 do $3000+ worth of mods to her 4T60-E, and she improved her 1/4 mile times by 0.5 sec with just the tranny alone. Now, I'm not sure of the weather condition similarities between the runs, but the people I have talked to that have ridden in the car since the tranny work have had nothing but good things to say about it.

The level ten help the car's transmission minimize driveline losses. So a factory car the to the wheels might be like 20 percent loss and with the level ten might be like 10 percent. Those are just example numbers. Plust the fact the level ten tranny will be able to withstand a lot more power than the factory

Personally, I (like many others) am going to wait until my tranny blows to get that kind of upgraded stuff. Sounds tempting though, doesn't it? You'll see the most reduction in power loss by getting the torque converter and most strength gain with the valve body upgrade...

The level 10 stuff definitely is interesting.. Can't wait to see the setup and some numbers.

It was a Beretta Z26. I'll do some searching on BNet and GMF to see if I can't find any discussions about it.

Actually, the only place you will save drive losses is from the modified torque converter they provide as part of the package. It has slightly less slippage than stock, but you have the same gear friction and what not everywhere else, so your only looking at about 2-5% improvement. Most of the other mods they do are for improved shifting and power handling like you said.

If its only 2-5% improvement, is it worth 3 grand then? If shifting is what it improves, why not get the Transmission Interceptor.

There is a huge difference between having an external device affecting the line pressure and internally changing the valve body. Although most people feel a difference with a device such as the Interceptor, nothing can really compare to a modified valve body. Hence the reason you see so many shift kits and upgraded valve bodies for RWD transmissions. Is it worth $3k? Probably not, but considering you can't really go out and buy the hard parts that Level 10 swaps out, its pretty much the only route to go. I've been looking for a modded valve body for about a year now, with no luck. You can't really find any internals for these trannies...

I think overall it is a good value. Level ten is just about the best out there as far as transmissions go. They have years of experience and can service any type of tranny. As as bszopi said the parts they have are not readily available to the general public. After I blow my trans that is where i am going
