i cant see why GM would be so ignorant to do so many body changes in so little time i mean they just redid it this year 03

Just a basic early design concept from a while ago. Why would you think they would release pics of what the car is going to look like now, they aren't go to show us anything decent regaurding the Cav. for a while because they want people to focus on the "SS" concept, 2004 Malibu (looks nice), and other more note worhty cars right now. Thats why your not going to see much other than teaser pics of the GA right now till around mid-late 2003 or a bit later.

I can already tell you the front and rear of the car isn't going to look like that. You people take these pics to seriously. Its like the pics of the C-6 Corvette in the past few months we've seen.

Cavy is moving off the J-Body platform (just as the Grand Am is leaving the N-Body platform), that's why the redesign.

That pic is uneasily to much much like the Mali, somebody just pointed that out.

Looks like another Opel car slashed in Photochop'
who ever is doing it, please stop, its getting repetitive
example: just extend the stupid chrome bar in the middle of the grill through the headlights and what car does it look like? The photochoped Mali pic. That and the shape of the bar isn't like the shape of the front of the car, just looks like they took a Chevy SSR, cropped the area that they wanted and put it on a Opel. Same goes for the rear of the car where the chevy symbol isn't correctly laying across the cars rear end and has cute little smudge marks around it to blend it in a bit.

To Euro looking anyway which is a dead give away.

Mwaaahahaha

Just figuered out what the bottom pic really is a pic of. Oh man, I need to snag a pic of the car, your jaws will drop if I can find it.

I wasn't complaining to you, just who ever makes the pics. Sorry about that, didn't mean to make it seem like I was bitching at you. That bottom pic you have is really strange I have to admit, there are atleast 2 differnet cars used for it.

It has some Vauxhall (the front headlamps are from the Vectra) in there, plus a few other tid bits that don't fit the car itself. Makes for a good puzzle if your bored out of your mind!

We have officially enterd into a new era with GM (if you havent given up on them). Slow is back, ugly is the new look, performance is out and expensive is in.. anyone notice sales are going down for them? Anyone look at their stock prices? GM is done being the perfomance and price (overall value) leader. Whoever took over and appoved all this slow expensive ugly BS needs to be biitch slapped and then fired.

Not to argue with you Mike, but for the second year in a row, GM's market share has actually gone up. There was just a report on Car and Driver's Auto News area. That hasn't happened since 1976. Though other things you said are pretty true... ugly..

This cavalier looks too much like the Vibe. Since the car hasn't seen a design change since 95, this new model scares the hell out of me. :( Was not what I was expecting. Of course they got to do something, they've facelifted the current models to death.

To think about it correctly, S.GA2001 is right about the market share.

To me the last 4-5 years have been the slow, ugly, down right stupid looking and rather cheap to go with it.

2004 The Malibu will grow, but the engine will have a larger displacement and around 50+more hp. We finally get the GTO back and it isn't as lackluster as it was going to seem (can't argue with 405+hp) The GA will finally get what we want, so the price tag jumps. The SSR is cool, I would have liked to see that car made in 95-99 *shivers* it would have been ugly. The GP will step up, get more power and the Asstek and Bonneville are on the way out. That little car that Bob Lutz rolled out as a concept car is coming 2005 with the same stated 240hp we want, were finally getting some nice ideas going including the CTS-Vseries which will make drool, "SS" concept, the XLR which later might get the Caddy V-12, and the actual V-12 itself is sweet music.

If you think really hard about it we are just heading in the same direction as everyone else. The Civic, Sentra, and Corrola *or whatever that crap is called, have all doubled in size and now if you want one you happly have to cough up over 16grand for a nice one. The Civic Si, and Sentra Se-r are either watered down now or don't exist anymore "Se-r" and are just overatted hunks of crap that have good 0-60 times but there 1/4's are as slow as GAGT and what was pocket rockets are now the size of a mid 90's Altima or a Honda Accord. And the Civic Si is probably the ugliest car I've seen since the orginal Aztek. Friggin bubble on wheels.

I'm on a roll here:rolleyes: Well, some of the cars may be ugly *not as ugly as a Civic SI* but those are just the ones I'll stay away from, most of them are Chevy's anyway and Cherolets have never really been good exterior wise except for the Corvette. I'll most likely buy that little Pontaic 2-seater in 2005, that or a GTO.

Check please.

Regardless of the sales or whatever... I still say "Whoever took over and appoved all this slow expensive ugly BS needs to be biitch slapped and then fired."

Anyone?

Or de we like slow and ugly? I don't. I like things like GTP's, Camaro and Trans Am LS1's!! BRING THE PERFORMANCE BACK!! and not for a rediculously high price!!!

Off topic... if I can't find a good used GTP coupe... I'm buying a Saab and modifying it (used) and intend to blow the doors off any little Subaru WRX or Neon SR4 that comes near me... IN CLUDING the modded ones.

Tell me about it. I want the Z28 and T/A back, damn man I still have this pic of 2002 SS up on my wall that I got in late 2001.

Unfortunatly people can't afford a car that will cost them more insurance wise than their car costs. That's why I have to give up my Vette, a grand A month is killing me, I'm spending 12grand a year just for some stupid insurance crap. Yes I'm only 21 but thats the main age group that drools over that car (Z28/Trans Am) and when you take us out of the line up, all you have is the 30+ group that mostly has a family, needs 4-doors, lots of room and blah blah blah. And thats SUV city, plus they give you that rugged look *bs*. Otherwise why would anybody buy a wagon? Dress it up and make it look like a SUV or a sports car and since it looks a bit like a SUV its popular. I saw a new stupid Protowagon5' win the "best looking" award at a local car show even thought the thing was stock and it just happened to be new at the time. Thats bs to me!

GTP, well theres this little list of used GP's I found:

http://www.coautonet.com/classifieds/

Theres a 2-door 1999 GTP in there;)

Then again I would like to see a Saab out run a WRX, that would have me on my feet damn quick.

Do some research on Saab's, you might be on your feet.

My boyfriend's brother designed the interior for the Saturn Sky concept and moved onto the team working on the 2005 Cavalier. When I saw him July 4th, he had drawings of the Cavalier and we talked about the direction GM was going with it. The drawings I saw looked NOTHING like those pics posted above. The design I saw was very sexy and sporty - with the classic wedge shape instead of that boxy look. From what he told me, Bob Lutz is trying to take GM in the right direction and get design out of the hands of the bean counters and back where it belongs - with the design team. Don't be too rough on GM guys. It takes a long time to turn a company the size of GM around, but I think the signs are very encouraging. Just my humble opinion...
