Hello everyone, A few days ago I bought my 05 grey 2dr Grand Am GT ram air v6 and im really liking it, used to have a 99 v6 mustang and can tell greatly its alot more powerful, im gonna do a few mods to it and thats it, however I used to have on the mustang just cai/exhaust/and 75 shot of nitrous and the motor held up strong even after I passed the 100k mile mark, im wondering how well does the 3400 sfi motor take a 50-75 shot with stock internals? cause im just wanting mainly exhaust/cai/headers/and nitrous for mods then the SC/T bodykit and some rims and heres some pics the the GAGT and my old stang, www.insomnia-central.com/pics2.html

You bought my favorite Grand Am! I love that color on them, and it is only available on 05's. Stock for stock, the GA will be quicker than your Mustang. However it's a lot easier to mod the Mustang due to a pretty crappy aftermarket for these cars. The motor itself is strong and can actually handle a lot, it's just the tranny that is the weak point.

thanks you guys, yeah the v6 mustang aftermarket is starting to get alot better, many are hitting the 11-12sec 1/4mile mark and theres a handfull hitting 10s and it didnt seem like there was a big aftermarket support for our GAs but thats ok I just want those few bolt ons and ill be pleased :P I heard the 05s like mine are good for mid-low 15s? cause the stang was good for high15s low16s (auto) and mid-high15s (5-speed) and as far as having a 50-75shot on a stock block should be ok? (probally will go through a bottle every 3wks to a month lol went through 2 bottles in weeks on the stang before haha)

Did you buy that car brand new?? I fso, I'd wonder why the engine looks like ass. The covers, UIM, and machining looks dirty as hell if it is a new car.

wtf ? looks pretty clean to me?

Anyways,...

Just hope that your car doesnt break alot, and if sh!t starts falling apart, sell it before the warranty is out, thats all I have to say.

Both of my new GAGT's had spotless engine bays when I bought them, hell, the '04 ith 8500 miles was still spotless when I traded it for the GTO. Both of them had valve covers and UIM's that looked like they were just painted. And if you look down by the frontside exhaust manifold the machining was beauiful and still polished. Furthermore the engine still had countless red, yellow, green, etc. dots all over it from the verification checks at the assembly plants. Both of these were bought in Western NY too, one in the lovely winter time.

Welcome. I agree with Bob. The engine looks dirty for an 05. Here is his ...

it looks like someone used that spray detailer (like armor all)bu got it all over everything, then a little dirt settled on it. it looks all greased up from armor all anyways. same thing happened to my malibu, just get some greased lightning and a plastic bristle brush and it will come right off.

Stop, you don't mean that.

lol If i knew the "ram air" was a selling gimmick, I probably wouldn't have bought a grand am.

I'm sure we can all think of something about the GA that if we would have known at the time of buying it, we wouldn't have gone thru with it... lol
