View Full Version : Premium gas in your GA?
09-09-2005, 10:42 AM
I've been contemplating using premium gas for my next fill up to see if it drives any better and I was wondering if anyone on here has used premium before and if its worth the few extra cents per gallon.
Thanks for any input

Not worth the money. Stick with 87.

Not unless you have DHP chip or something. Lots of guys will BS that its better....its a proven fact that its not required and differences in gas mileage comes more from driver input, than grade of gas.

If you can get 89, 91, or 93 at the same price as 87 go for it, otherwise you'll just be wasting your money per the latter comments.

with gas prices these days, why would you even consider using premium? Running better or not. Be lucky your car can take regular.

i dont know about other places, but around here its still 10 cents different between grades. Gas has tripled in price, but the difference in grades is the same. Proportionately, its a better and better deal. I run 89, and get better mileage. I dont know anything technical about it, but i get better mileage with 89. With the difference in price it works out to be the same cost either way, so i just use 89. cant hurt.

The best gauge is to keep track of your MPG. If you are getting more miles per gallon out of premium, use it. Don't rely on one tank, run several tanks or regular than several tanks of premium to get accurate numbers.
My wife did this with our Astro van and found the premium gas was cheaper per mile.
