I've read other articles here but I didn't find the info I needed. A lot of advise on what you should instead but what if you have both parts? I have 2 '99 gase's one with a 3.4 and the other with a 2.4. I can't seem to get the title on the 3.4 and the 2.4 engine is about to go. The 3.4 has less than 50k miles on it. Does anyone know if a 2.4 can been replaced by a 3.4? Please only reply if you have info pertinant to that specific question. I have read many articles on here for alternatives already.

Thanks

If you have both cars, you can swap everything that has to do with the 3.4l into the other car. Wiring harness and every linkage, throttle cable, computer, the whole works.

Everything should work, unless the 2.4 was a manual, then you will have to do some tinkering to get to work. Otherwise, everything should hook up quite nicely.

Do I have to change out the tranny too?

Yeah I think so. I might be wrong but I'm pretty sure the 2.4 tranny bolts up differently.

The other thing is, the 2.4 won't only have a different computer it will have different wiring on the PCM connector; you'll have to swap like *all* the engine wiring and probably other wiring as well. Be sure to get a GM/Helm 1999 N-Body service manual set because you'll need them.

Seems like a pretty intensive job, but good luck!

I might not attempt it at this point. I was hoping it was going to be easier. I think I'll just get both the se's fixed and sell them, and just keep my gt. Sidebar: Anyone know what is the widest 18" tire you can put on a 99 gagt? Thanks for the input guys.
