This may be a coincidence, but last night I replaced my driver side dim headlight/lamp. The only thing I did was remove the three bolts on the light housing to replace the lamp. Everything went smooth, about a five minute job.

This morning when I started my 96 Grand AM GT (standard), it was idling rough and I could smell exhaust fumes immediately. Not having time to troubleshoot, I drove to work and it ran rough the whole way. The check engine light came on about half way and stayed on.

I am going to stop by after work and get it scanned to see if there are any error codes. My question is what could I have unplugged/pulled/pinched to cause this problem. The battery is right behind the headlight, but until this evening I canít check anything.

Was replacing the lamp a coincidence or what? Thanks for your help in advance.

Uhh.... yea, you're probably low on blinker fluid now. You should check that, a lot of people forget to top that off when they replace their headlights.

Seriously now... no, they are not related.
