I am trying to dissasemble a tb I have here. More specifically its a 3400 tb.

What I am trying to do is rotate the shaft 180 degrees so it pulls open like a fiero tb. As it sits, the throttle cable would have to come in from the air cleaner side to open the tb. I want to make it so the throttle cable can follow the same routing.

I have it taken down pretty far. The blade has been removed as well as the TPS.I have the throttle return spring loose so tehre is no tension.

It appears that the shaft is riding on a set of bearings. Looks like one bearing is on each side of the TB at the ends of the shaft.

Is the shaft pressed into these bearings, or can you tap the shaft out of the bearings with a rubber mallet or a hammer and a wood block? I dont' want to damage the shaft on the tps end.

Basically is it possible to hammer it out?

I only need it to come out like 1/4 inch so it can clear the throttle stop so it can be rotated. I have pics of how someone else did it but I dont' have the pics on this hd as I got a new/used computer and all my pics are on my old HD. I can't provide pics either of what I am talking about as my camera produces real ****ty pics ie broken.

Remove the TPS sensor and tap the now exposed end of the shaft to get the desired result.

You could also grind off the stock throttle stop and make one of your own.

What are the benefits of doing this? I have an extra TB sitting around.

its worth about 20 hp.

Bahahahaha! You're absolutely kidding me. There is no way in hell that by doing whatever you are doing to your OEM TB will you gain anywhere close to that amount of HP. Even with an aftermarket TB at 62-69mm you'd be lucky to see 10 HP at MOST from them.

my buddies dad said I would gain that because its less air friction. He used to work on old hemis Guy knows whats up.

i will modify your tb's too for $20 and spit shine them for up to a 30 hp gain!!!! Spit shine adds 5-10 or so.
