My fuel gauge does not read right at time. Everyonce in awhile ill start it knowing it is not full and the guage will read full, but if you turn the car off and turn it back on it will read normal (or i will think it will). and when it does this it is on flat ground. Also one day i was driving and i had about 1/4 of a tank and the guage just kept rising and rising got to about 3/4 and stopped. never dopped from that untill i got gas. any help would be appreciated

I've got a problem kind of like this, but mine reads correctly until around 1/2 tank, then it starts going down really fast. I know it's not sucking fuel, since I fill it up and it doesn't take that much (six or eight gallons) to top it off from when the needle says "E". The needle doesn't bounce around, like the problems that they were having in Canada, so I don't think that it's sulphur or whatever, but does this mean it's time for a new Fuel Level Sensor, or is there something else I can do to fix it?

Try putting into your gas tank a fuel system cleaner.

Kleen-Flo (http://www.kleenflo.com) TKO 2000 Fuel System Tune Up

I bought some here through NAPA.

It helped me.

If that doesn't help; the only thing left is to change the fuel level sending unit sensor kit (NOT the whole sending unit).

Update: yeah the fuel system cleaner seems like it worked. I'm on my first tank with it, but the needle didn't go down nearly as fast as it did before. I'll fill it up this weekend and make sure, but I think this fixed it. Thanks Mike!
