View Full Version : When should you do a tune-up

With all things GM we now have the claimed 100K tune-up. Now I know you're nuts to let your car go this long with out a tune-up. So, what do you think would be a good time, in miles, to do a tune-up and why? For me its around 30k, I'm rather hard on my car and replace things sooner than most.

Hell, I'm at 92k miles and I haven't gotten a tune-up yet. Car runs beautifully. I do plan on it however, in the next month or so.

The problem I've heard people having in waiting so long was the plugs seize in the heads. I hope you dont have that problem.

If i bought a brand new car and wasnt gonna mod it and just wanted it for a DD i wouldnt give it a tune up till 100K.

30-50k for plugs/wires, 30k for the fuel filter, air filter a couple times a year (K&N recharge), tranny flush 50k, radiator flush 50k. I'm sure there is other stuff I'm forgetting.

^ pretty much what he said. When I did mine last summer the wires were stuck on the plugs and I had a hell of a time getting the back ones off.
