Ok, my driver's side window regulator decided to take a crap last night (20 degree weather). Anyway's, the guy that is installing the new one for me told me that with these 2 door car windows you need to leave the windows all the way up, or all the way down. He said that it puts a lot of strain on the window regulator to keep them half open. Is this true? If anyone could let me know what they think that would be great!

That's news to me . That would be pretty stupid on GM's part if it were true. Sounds like BS to me.

Oh come on now, its a freekin car, not a fragile Lego construction. Things break, I would give the car more credit.

So, what is the verdict on the window then? It doesn't matter if it's half open or all the way down? They just suck in general and will break either way?

I notice it breaks more on 2 door models maybe because the front window is bigger?

It will happenb no matter what you do. Sounds like you have a backyard mechanic, no offense.

Mine is a 99 and i have NEVER had window problems, but it is a common problem.

Just another typical GA problem. Some of us have it happen to us every few thousand miles ... while others haven't even heard of the problem. I had to replace both of mine at about 40,000 ... which isn't so bad.

Same here. 99 with 150K miles and still on the orginal regulators! Well I bought it at 61K miles, so maybe they were replaced, I just don't know.

I just changed my drivers side, the back clip was broken off completely. Its a poor design. The plastic probably get brittle from temperature changes and the weight of the window.
