if it is just coming out of the top of the filter... take off the filter, clean the mounting surface, and replace with a new filter

not the filter coming from area above it already replaced the filter to make sure it wasnt double gasketted. my buddy told me maybe oil pressure switch or something like that. but ill have to see what dealer say hopefully that problem whatever it is will fall under drivetrain warranty.

It should be covered under warranty. I dont know what is above the oil filter on our cars. Hopefully you didnt do any damage to the engine with it spitting oil the way it was.

Isnt your car off its warenty? 3 years or 36k whatever comes first. Hope you get it fixed, and quick. Seems odd to me.

They made you?

Definately let us know what happened. I have never heard of this happening.

Sounds like the dealer cracked/broke something when wrenching the old filter off. Don't know how similair the 3400 is to the older 60*V6's but on my old 2.8 the oil pressure switch for the idiot light was directly above the filter. Maybe they bumped it hard enough to start a crack which has been steadily been getting worse (as cracks usually do).

I was about to say the Oil Pressore Sensor.....I swear.

ok got it back today it infact was the oil pressure switch of course they didnt admit to breaking it originally.. i had to take the warranty because the bank i got the loan through wanted me to as part of the loan this way i wouldnt get stuck with a major repair coming out of my pocket they want to make sure they get their payment even though ive never been late on a car payment...and it was not covered under warranty so it cost me 110.27
