Is the power tuner able to let a replacement stock headunit work without getting it reprogrammed at the dealer?
Is that what the security "off" is for? Or is that something else?

You don't need to code the radios to the VIN until '01+ ... You should be OK with going through the theftlock unlock procedure that's been posted here :)
And for the ones that do need it (01+), as far as I know the PT only communicates w/ the PCM and not any other device on the class 2 bus, so that would be a no, you need someone w/ a tech 2. It takes about 30 seconds, if anyone needs the steps involved if they know someone w/ a tech 2, let me know.. Pretty much just browsing through a menu and picking the right RPO codes for the car.

Thanks for the info Seth. I was almost going to go aftermarket but I told myself I'm not getting any aftermarket HU until I have an alarm first.
