Hey guys,
I know that this is a GAGT forum but I know some of you all own SE's and I have a question about it. I just bought an 04 Grand AM SE w/ the 3400 SFI v6. I have about 1500.00 ready to drop on a body kit and I want the SC/T.

My question to you all is:
Will the SC/T from pfyc.com fit my SE?
I know that pfyc.com states that if you have the GT Front/Rear Fascia installed on the SE that the kit will bolt right up. I'm a little confused as to what the front/rear fascia means...

Also, if I do not have the front/rear fascia, could I get the body shop to custom mount the SC/T to my SE? How much work is actually involved in that?

Thanks for any input you all can give..

No the kit wont fit onto your SE. You have to do a GT "conversion" where you buy the front and back bumpers off a GT and put them on your SE. Then the SC/T Kit will bolt right on. Many ppl have done the conversion like GAGTS and Rennation. I dont think a body shop could custom mount it because the bottom of the SE front bumper is that weird grill type thing. the SCT kit hooks up to the lip on the GT bumper. Same with ur rear bumper, its got too many ripples. Best bet would be to save up 500 more bucks and do a GT conversion.

Thanks for the reply..

Ok I see what's going on now. I thought that the SC/T kit was the full front and rear bumber.. I did not know that it was simply a lip kit type add on.

I was going to do the GT conversion before I got confused with the whole SC/T so all is good. I'll go through with the GT conversion and all is well when it comes time to put on the SC/T. Saving up an extra 500 shouldn't be too hard... :)

Again, thank you for your reply. One last question:
Where would I get the GT Front/Rear bumpers... I've looked on Ebay but only found the front bumper.. At the end of this month I would like to put on my rear/front lights, GT front/rear bumbers, sprint lowering springs and my BORLA exhaust... I don't want fiberglass either (seen to many shatter like glass).. I want urethane, preferably from a real GT or something of that sort. Let me know..

keep your eye on the classified section of this forum, people tend to part out their cars often here because they can get more money for it then if they sold it privately.

also, even if you could mount the SC/T kit to the SE the lines of the kit would clash in a big way compaired to the SE lines. I have an SE and personally I love the lines of the car, but there is no doubt that the SC/T kit would look weird without the GT pannels.

GT Front Bumper 107$ Buy It Now. (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-FRONT-BUMPER-COVER-1999-2004-PONTIAC-GRAND-AM-GT_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33640QQitemZ80446675 61QQrdZ1)

thats a damn steal i payed like 265 for mine through a local junkyard. Its aftermarket too, doesnt have the pontiac emblem inlay in the front which i kinda like. rear bumper ide browse some sites and check at local junkyards how much it costs for thme to order an aftermarket one.
I beleive the sc't kit is made out of polyurathane(sp) the same that our bumpers are made of. U shudnt have a problem with it breaking unless u dip out really hard. A guy on here just flipped his car with the SC't kit on and it didnt break.

if you wanna do it all you need is to search around for the front and rear gt bumpers and get the gt door panels, i only have the sct side skirts so its definately possible, but for less than 1500 you are gonna need a cheap body shop and your gonna need to find the parts relatively cheap

For future reference so you know... the body panels on the front and back of the car are referred to as the fascia. They are not actually bumpers. The plastic bumpers are behind those, which is the actual part that absorbs impacts.

You need the front and rear fascia from a GT in order to add the SC/T kit. The sides of the SC/T kit replace the stock rocker panels, but you will also need GT door panels for them to match.

Give me a sec as I absorb all of this information.... hehe

Let's see here..

Let me state what I'm going to do and you all tell me if I'd be ok..

1. Purchase the front and rear GT fascias.
2. Have a local body shop paint and attach the fascias to my SE.
3. Purchase the SC/T Full Kit from pfyc.com.
4. Have a local body shop paint and attach the kit to my SE.

I also noticed that someone had stated that I would need to buy the indented door panels to match the sc/t kit.. My SE has smooth doors, would it really look that bad without the indented door panels?

Yes.
fascias are also known as bumper "covers" ;)

Might be easier and quicker to buy the fascias, ribs, and SC/T kit and wait until you have it all before you go to the body shop. It might also be a little cheaper and look better, since all the body work and paint would go on at the same time.

edit: almost forgot.... *welcome*

You need GT door skins. It won't flow without them.

The early SE's had door panels just like the GT's but with slightly different ribs, and the rockers went up the sides on either side of the doors so they matched the height of the door panels. The SC/T kit rockers do the same thing because it was designed to go with the GT door panels. Later SE's like yours have no door panels and different rockers which just go along the bottom and not up the sides. If you put the SC/T rockers on without adding the GT door panels, the rockers will be sticking out further than your doors and it will look funny.

i am currently doing the same thing you are...i bought mines (front/back fascias, side skirts, and door panels) off Highwayprowlerz here and currently its sitting in my room waiting for me (2 months more).

seeing that majority of the ones that go on sale here are (other than white), when i install mines, i need to repaint everything...which is ok.

as for the chin spoiler on a SE, one of the threads someone did a chop and yes it does look stupid and ugly.

and i hope you find your parts that your looking for.

here's what you gotta do if you wanna be REALLY COOL!

pull off the SE bumper and replace them with a big ol' snow plow with some aluminum sheets in between, then put spikes all over it and spray paint WELCOME TO THUNDERDOME!!! on the hood.

that's how the real gangsta's do it.

-e.

p.s. today is a silly day.

All SE's have the same rockers, just some don't have door panels....

The SE's with ribs have rockers that go up the side like a GT's. The SE's without ribs have rockers that just run along the bottom.
