I'd like to have the wheels on my Pacer powdercoated. Does anyone know of any good reasonably priced powder coaters in the MI area? I'd prefer Metro Detroit, but I may travel farther for good work and a good deal. Thanks!

What do you think he'd charge to do wheels? Also, how's his work? Like I said, if it's worth the drive, I'd do it.

No idea on the prices but these are all places that will do small order custom automotive stuff, so their work should be high quality which is the important part. Depending on what type of wheels they are, they might recommend not powdercoating them though. My brother was going to get some wheels done and they told him that because of the type of wheel the heat curing process for the powder coat would screw up the temper on the wheels, so he just had them painted instead and they turned out really nice.

Thanks for the list. What they are are polished aluminum American Racing 200s's. The attatched image is the exact wheels and what I'm trying to accomplish. I guess I'll just give those places a call and see what they say. Do you have experience with any of the places, or should I just start calling? Thanks a ton!

I'm glad you think so AJ! I haven't changed the appearance of the Pacer since I put it together 4 years ago. I think powder coating the wheels a gloss jet black, would spice it up very nicely.

No experience personally with those places. Most of them had displays at the autorama show I was at and their stuff looked pretty good. I had my front suspension arms powder coated at the place I had my radiator made and I wasn't happy with it. It was too brittle and chips off easily (probably cured at the wrong temp or too long), so I was thinking of trying one of those places next. Probably when I get a set of aluminum arms off a '99 car. ;)

I was just quoted $200 per wheel!!! Dang! Anyone else "know someone" that could help me out? Or have an idea of who could do it for more in the 50 a wheel range? I'm willing to do any and all prep work and masking. Hell, I'd powder coat the damn things myself, but I don't have the equipment. Also, as tacky as it sounds, my car is a unique sponsorship opportunity...perhaps that could be an option? I just think 200 a wheel is out of this world insane. I could get new wheels for that! Any ideas?

that is insane, did you tell the shop that quoted that to go stick it somewhere? hopefully you can find a decent place up there.

Well, he said it sounded like there was a lot of prep and masking involved. I offered to do it all and he said he's have to get back to me. But it's still probably in the 100 per wheel range. I really want to get this done, I just can't find anyone that wants to do it for my price range (which I don't think is unreasonable $50 per wheel).

Nah...avg. price is around $75+ a wheel. I found a guy that would do it for $50 a wheel here in Cali but for the most part, places will charge more.

There is a guy in downtown rochester under the bridge, not sure on the name. But my dad uses him all the time for stuff and he does awesome work and I think is reasonably priced. Should be the only guy in Rochester, so just look it up
