Ok so im driving from my base when i get home and smell something weird coming from outta my car. I open my hood and see the whole lower intake manifold like burned black. Nothing is leaking and i had my oil changed like either march or february since then i havent driven alot.
I attached pictures' so if ya'll can check it out maybe its something common.......but i will take it into the shop on tuesday.

That is your valve train cover.
Your oil looks horrible; & is that junk in the bottom of your valve train area ?

mike, how can you see so much in those pictures?
if you could get something in better focus...maybe that'd help. also can you describe the smell? was it like burnt plastic, burnt oil, did it smell sweet? anything?

Referring to pic # 3.
I guess I am used to seeing into mine; that is really clean.
& being able to see clean metal with no black coating on it.

i took better picture just waiting for the ex to send me them in email
It's just oily grime , no big deal .
the external burns on the valve covers is abnormal, something had to be burning outside of that to leave it with a coat of black soot. Hard to say what though
no damage to the plug wires? or you got an exhaust leak at the manifold perhaps?

I cant imagine what could cause besides an exhuast manifold leaking.

The car is in the shop now actually with over heating problems.
I think its the LIM problem we all have but my car is a 2004 they fixed the gasket thing right?
Also does anyone have the tech codes or service codes for the repair job neded?

Well the repair shop cant find the problem and im going to have to pay $114 outta my pocket because they cant find it thats bs they put a dye into the car so if i see it leaking they will reinburse me for the charge.

I'm guessing that they put dye in the motor oil ?
Did they also pressure test the engine coolant system (for engine coolant leak) ?
