99 alero, pioneer cd player, stock speakers, jensen 6 cd changer (installed by previous owner, uses radio output for the signal). Damn im confused.....

I was putting a cd player (pioneer deh-3000) in my girlfriends car (99 Alero) and when i hooked it up for some reason only 3 speakers were playing (rear left was out) but i left it like that for a few days so i could get the tools to make it fit right, i had to cut to make it fit. When i borrowed my friends dremel tool a few days later i unplugged the cd player ( the wiring harness and the antenna plug) after i cut the plastic in the back i tested the cd player to make sure the rear left channel was giving signal, once i found out the cd player was fine i decided to bypass the the original wiring and i just ran a speaker wire from the cd player to the 6x9 that wasnt playing once i got everything finished up i plugged the cd player back in and went to turn it on to see how it played and nothing happened, no power, no sound, no nothing. I was pretty upset and decided to just plug her regular head unit back in until i could mess with it some more (i was working in the drive way and it was getting to dark to work) well when i plugged it back in it didnt work either. So i checked all the fuses and all the wires and everything looked in order. Does anyone have any idea what could be going on

I would recheck your fuses one more time. Ive had the same thing happen. Blew a fuse in the driver side fuse box on the 99 grand am. Look at the Key and check all fuses that say Radio, or ACC or SW.

Not to offend or anything, but isn't this the reason why people say you should disconnect your battery when you do any electrical work in your car. (God I sound like a naggin mother... get out of my head mom).

If the car starts and you haven't cut any power cords back there behind the head unit, all signs point towards fuses.

your def right about unhooking the battery, in the future i will. I also wasnt aware that a fuse can be blown yet still look like its together. Someone on a different forum told me about that so im gonna go check all the fuses again. Thanks everyone.
