All:
I had posted a thread on this before the September meltdown, but since that was lost, I'll re-post my predicament:
I need to replace at least one of the front door 4x6 speakers in my car - it sounds like absolute crap - I think I may have blown the voice coil or something. Anyway, I need recommendations on replacement speakers. I'm not a car audio junkie, so as long as it sounds as good as OEM, I'm happy.
A few caveats, though: I want to keep my stock head unit. It works fine and I like the functionality.
I don't want to add a seperate amplifier if I can help it - money better spent elsewhere, plus I'm stupid when it comes to wiring.
Lastly, it needs to be easy to install (no 5.25 component sets, etc.) and drop right in....like I said, I'm stupid when it comes to car audio.
Thanks in advance for helping me out.
edit: Currently looking at the Alpine SPS-4629P for the front doors -

and maybe eventually coupling them with the Alpine SPS-6939S in the rear parcel shelf -

Comments? Please??
