yea ill post up results for sure. the pad retainers seem to be scraping on the rotors...not sure if i should pull it all apart to adjust it or if itll all even out when i break them in.

Looks good. I'm glad to see you got this to work, it shouldn't be long before others do the same (if I hadn't just replaced my brakes, I would). Good job!

i had a slight increase of excitement. i found the c5/z06 calipers on gmpartsdirect.com for $96 each, but then upon further research i found that they dont bolt to the f-body brackets. such a let down. :(
Ok I'm kind of confused cause I thought these calipers were what everyone was ordering.
Also I'm not sure what the pad retainers are. Are those pieces set into the calipers to hold the pads in? Where did you buy those? Also did you buy the pads and rotors online, if so where and what brands? Sorry for all the questions, I just want to be sure I'm ordering all the right stuff at the best prices.
Congrats on the install though.

I would keep the corvette lettering. I mean they are corvette calipers, show them off.

Its not a corvette though whats funny is if someone put a GT-R badge on their GA they would get bashed to no end...no offense to dave just stating my opinion I love the brakes its a great improvement but I would paint them all black

if i put in a skyline GTR motor, id leave the GTR badge ON THE ENGINE, then it would be the same thing, but i wouldnt get bashed.
LukeD: sorry forthe confusion.
1) i found that the C5/Z06 calipers DO fit, they are the same as te C5 calipers. i was clarifying becuse the calipers on the C6/Z06 are 6 piston calipers thati DOUBT will fit.
the pad retainers are the thin metal pieces that hgold the pads in place. not sure what the actual name is.
i got the rotors/pads from summitracing.com. i got EBC grenstuff pads and powerstop drilled rotors. both are for camaro.

now you have me confused... i thought we had to use impala rotors to get the right bolt pattern..
anyways looks very nice installed. :applause:

I don't know the geometry of the vanes inside those rotors, but it looks like your disks are on backwards. Looks good otherwise, not a fan of the green pads mix in there, would look hotter all black but what can you do.
here is the pic of what I mean by rotors looking to be mounted the wrong way. I know yours say L for left but still looks strange that way, all sport compacts I see in magazines and stuff have rotors facing like the picture below. My baer were also labeled to be mounted like the pic below. The holes don't much matter though, its the internal vanes that do, so if those are right its all right :D

i dont think it matters much how the holes are...i dont think i would want to do the opposite from what the rotors were labeled.
and heres the scoop on impala rotors vs camaro rotors: the fronts are the same bolt pattern and diameter. theres more offerings for camaro than impala...but they are 100% interchangeable. i hope that helps.

Are the slots inside the rotors going straight out or are they directional? If they are directional then it certainly matters which way the holes are going. The internal slots should always be angled back from the direction or forward rotation if they are directional vanes. Also the rotor labeled left is usually supposed to go on the drivers side, so the question is which side is that in the pic?
Anyway, they look pretty good. I also say leave the corvette logo on there. It's totally different from the "GTR" badge thing. People put those on cars that have nothing to do with the GTR. You actually have corvette brakes so thats not the same, and it looks better that way. The total price isn't really that bad either. Deffinitely better than stock sized aftermarket rotors if you're looking for something that will fit in stock wheels. I'm still interested in seeing if there's something similar to this that can be done in the rear though.

can these fit with the stock 16in wheels or are larger rims a must for this mod

in respect to fitting with stock rims...its anyones guess. if you read above im gonna see if i can get stock 16s to fit over these.

i would brag that they are part corvette / impala combo brakes. but paint over the wording blk. or if really do not like i supose you can sand the lettering down could you not.
you don ' t really want your ga say corvette from a viewing purposes aspecially you ga owners that removed all your ga gt badging.
but those folks really interested in looking close will see the painted over wording. there 2 pistons calipers correct ? and what size are the rotors .. like to see photo's of bigger rear disc brake jobs for ga's.

Very cool...yes please figure out if the stock 16's fit over them...I am figuring they wont but I would LOVE to do the mod if they would fit.
Also, you said it seemed like the clips might have been scraping the rotors. I SWEAR mine are gonna drive me nuts! I just put on a full set of Decelarotors and the scraping feel sucks....did you drive it yet or how do you know they may be scraping? I want to get mine sorted out.

ok i finished the job. no, the stockers wont fit, but 17s will.
my responses to removing the "corvette" lettering is over.
today im gonna try to solve the scraping. when i broke in the brakes the scraping sound bothered me, but the brakes stop sooooo much better. the pedal is slightly softer, but they work so well i scared the poop out of my fiance when we broke them in.
i updated my how-to page with more detailed pics. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/482117/7

Question on the guide pin/boot.. did you reuse or order new?? You didn't mention this in the how to... Thanks.
you should make a thread on here with the how-to instead of hosting it else where so its always here.

Except this site loads much faster than Car/SoundDomain and doesn't have any "Scheduled Maintenance Time" BS. Not to mention they can comment, share info and discuss on a forum as opposed to the Comments on Cardomain.

I was curious as to wether you'd notice any different pedal feel or not. I've noticed the same thing with my other brake kits. The braided lines improved pedal feel and pressure, but there seems to be a little more pedal travel before they stiffen up. I'm pretty sure this is due to the larger calipers and the amount of fluid that the stock master cylinder moves. One of these days I'm going to look into seeing if I can find an easy swap for a larger master cylinder. That would stiffen the pedal back up with shorter travel and give even more pressure in the calipers for more stopping power. It's a little more work, but it would be good info for people that may be interested in doing it.

that would be cool to have an upgraded master cylinder. im to lazy to try all of the options...but what about a master cylinder from a vette? or a camaro? or an Impala? those are my best guesses.
OK everybody, check in the how to section for the brake job.
