It seems to me it would be smart to make that the Malibu. Since this is GM we are talking about it will be the Impala, unless BOB gets his hands on it, then it will be the Mailbu. Either way there is a different 08/09 Chevy that im looking foward to.

If you enlarge the bottom picture, it shows alot of detail WHICH I might add looks pretty Camry-ish or Lexus-ish IMO....THe tail looks Lucerne-ish and the front clip will be the new Chevy look. I am excited for this if only to see them really take a stab at the UBER-competitive mid market. Talks of this being RWD is great too...not so much as a Camry but more of a 300 competitor. Either way, I am guessing its a monster step seeing as how I don't really know WHAT the curent Malibu is competing against...maybe its old self?

I would bet a hell of a lot of money that the next Impala will be RWD and grow to a true full size car. The next Malibu will retain FWD midsize status. Then Chevy can battle with both the imports and Chrysler, however by the time this car finally gets out the full size RWD car fad may have died out...

I like the current Impala... It was def. an improvement over the last generation.
On a side note... call me crazy, but I saw a silver Malibu Maxx SS today on the way to work... AND I LIKED IT!

I agree about the SS looking nice. I had seen an SS wagon in silver...pretty nice. The bluish color its available in isnt bad either. Then again its like the new Impala and Impala SS. The SS looks very nice but the other models are a bit boring and not that great looking. Hell Car and Driver wrote quite the positive 3 page article about the Malibu SS wagon 3 or 4 months ago.....and thats Car and Driver who has a hard time not writing a negative article on vehicles of that variety...and brand.

The Next Gen will be RWD. They have been talking about it for 2years already. Now wether that is the Malibu or Impala im not sure. There is also a total of 4 Brand New Motors coming to the table along with some other's being re-worked.

Too much front overhang to be RWD. The distance between the front door and the front tire is extremely short suggesting FWD. It's the '08 Malibu.

Naa after looking at my freinds charger, this could still be RWD. Looks that way to me at least.
