Well a friend of mine, she wasnt paying attention and hit me. Nothing terrible but the rear bumper needs to be replaced.

She knows that I am going to use the cheapest (quality) way possible and not the direct quote from the shop, but feels bad about the situation, so shes going to pay the average on the quotes I got today, which was around $625 for a new rear bumper, bumper pad, and paint.

Im actually only going to ask her for about $550, because she is a friend and I have a solution for myself that will make me a very happy boy.

With the $550 and then about $200 of my own money I can either:

a) Get a stock bumper, ($75 Ebay) get it prepped, painted, and get it trimmed for a second exhuast outlet ($300 from a friends shop) and then install a magnaflow transverse 2.5" with 2 3.5" tips out the back. I saw a guy with a dual muffler set up on the tC that looked awesome, however the T-joint scares me away from that set up. The muffler and tips and work would cost me roughly $325 if not less. Grand total $700, $150 out of pocket.

b) Get a stock bumper ($75), prepped, painted, as well as the Scion Lip Kit ($300 ebay) and all of that painted ($400) with the stock exhaust system. Grand total $800 with $250 out of pocket.

Im leaning towards option A but B is tempting as well. What would you do?

honestly, I'd go for an option c.) stock bumper, stock exhaust, Tein H-tech (or TRD) lowering springs. The wheel gap on the tC is worse than it was on the GA (IMO). The car will look so much better lowered than with the lip kit. I'm really amazed at how good the tC looks just lowered. I know that would be my course of action for sure.

TRD Springs/Struts/Sways are to come in the future, and I figure while im getting the work done, I better make use of it.

So if you had to choose?

If I had to choose then I'd go for A because of originality.

you have the worst luck with cars ever.

fools not to have original high quality parts replaced just to help a friend who was dumb enough to hit you

Insurance - claim - she pays - done

Im not saying "cheapest parts" I.E. the rubber replacement bumper currently on Ebay, Im saying like I know people in the business and can save money on paint and prep, and I can find an OEM bumper for cheap.

Either way Im getting the full price it would cost for a full replacement, so in the end if I have to go to Scion and pay the 207.43 for the stock bumper (assuming I cant find it elsewhere) then I will.

All i'll say is, thats really nice of your friend to offer to pay especially when she knew it was her fault.

lol lol dude you initially told him that you would each take care of your own damage

edit: did I read that right? 3.5 inch tips? in that case do what Chris said and drop it.
