I went to start my 2000 Grand AM GT up today and the Service Vehicle Soon light was on on the dash. I have checked all my lights thinking that might be the cause but it won't turn off or go away. There are no chimes or anything with it.

Does anyone have any idea what to check or how to get rid of it? The manual talks about some type of ALC malfunction, but I have no idea as to what that is?

get the code sanned to see what set the light off. Post up after you get it checked out!

Make sure your gas cap is screwed on tight.

Loose gas cap throws a SES light. Not an SVS light.

I'm not even sure that a SVS light will throw a code on an OBDII scanner?

Ahhh I didn't realize that it was a SVS light. In that case, it could be something like you headlight is out. Check all your lights.

It will if you have a scan tool that queries the BCM .. most cheapie scan tools though only query the PCM for trouble codes and won't be able to get body, brake module, sir, etc.. codes.

Anyways

9 times out of 10 it is headlight related, you may want to check your headlamps. this topic has been covered way too many times, time to search
