...again.
I hit a deer on my lunchbreak today. I work in downtown Silver Spring, Maryland, so I was really suprised that there was even a deer down there. The thing came running AT me and I hit him head on (doing about 35mph). He actually jumped over my hood, and smacked into my windshield. My co worker was sitting in my passenger seat. The deer hit RIGHT in front of him. Blood splatterred all over my friend, and on me as well.
There are chunks of meat, blood, hair, and glass, all the way into the BACK of my truck. So far, I need a new windshield, hood, power/heated mirror, and tons of cleaning inside. I drove straight to the body shop after this happened (with my hazards on and only doing 30mph).
I'm so upset right now because this is the second time I've wrecked this truck and I haven't had it a year yet! The first time, it was pretty bad and my insurance raised $500 a year. This time, I have no idea what will happen to my insurance. I'm pretty sure they don't raise your rates for something like this, but who knows.
My next post will have the pics. IF YOU ARE SENSITIVE TO PICTURES OF BLOOD OR HARMED ANIMALS, DO NOT SCROLL DOWN BECAUSE THEY ARE VERY, VERY GORY!

ive seen deer get pwned better. imagine hitting one in an f250 at 60mph and the entire half end being turned to miniscule spechs by your grill leaving no large chuncks from the back half of the deer behind. now that's a winnar...:)

It seems folks here on GAGT.com don't like Vent-Visors.
IMO, like them for looks & function.
[I always leave my GA windows cracked a bit open during the summer, while parked during the day (it is nice not having to worry about rain.]
You going to have a "Bush Bar" put on the front now ?

i got vent visors on my escape and love them... anyways that is plain ****ed up atleast you are all right. Unfortunitly... the little hairs won't go away for a while. My mom hit one with her jimmy a long time ago in the middle of the day and the little hairs were still all over the new painted hood and **** it was nasty.

UPDATE
So I picked up my Trailblazer today.
1. When I first got there, I noticed that they had replaced my AutoVentshade sunvisors, with GM ones and I thought, "cool it looks better anyway." Then I walked to the drivers side, and noticed I had the old Ventvisors on. Since all four come in a single pack, and they should have replaced them all in the first place, I told them I wanted the GM ones on the other side as well.
2. I looked at the hood, and the dent and paint looked great, you couldn't tell. I looked at the passenger side door which had 2 big scratches down the side (Because of the deer) and it looked good too.
3. I opened up the door and immediately grabbed the plastic A-Pillar because it had been broken in the accident. It was extremely loose. I took it off to find blood/meat still on the inside of it. It is held on by 3 clips and 2 of them were broken off. They were supposed to replace this, but didn't. That made me furious.
4. I looked at the dash, and there was a pretty decent sized spot of blood. I told them I want them to try to clean it off before I leave there. A guy came up with a rag and some kind of spray and when at it. He scrubbed forever on that thing, it was a pain in the ass. Now, I have this big white/dis-colored spot in the center of my dash... Furious again.
5. There is still some glass and a few pieces of hair here and there, but I'm not too worried about that. It really would be hard to get each and every last one.
6. I got back out and looked at the front. Since the deer jumped over my hood, he had hit the bug deflector with his hoof, I suppose, and scuffed it up. The man at the dealership saw this when I brought my truck in and said that he'd replace it. NOPE, it's still the old, scuffed up bug-guard.
I told them I want these few things taken care of. He said that he will call the insurance company first thing on Monday and get this stuff ordered. I'm not too sure why he would have to include the A pillar, and the bug guard though (From what I understand, they already included that in the estimate).
I paid them and returned my rental car (WHICH by the way, the rental company tried to charge me $435 even though my insurance covers 25 of the $29 a day that it costs.... They said they are going to call the company as well on Monday and find out why they're math is jacked up).
On my way home, I had windows rolled up and the vents on just to see if I could smell anything nasty. I didn't smell anything, but when I turned on my defroster, I had a bunch of glass and hair blow up out of the vent... that was lovely.
When I got home I inspected it further:
1. In the sunlight, I noticed that even though they repainted my passenger-side door, there were still small dings there where the 2 scratches were.
2. I noticed that they did not replace my mirror with a heated mirror like it is supposed to be.
3. I opened the hood to find that the liner is missing two of the plastic "push=pins" and is hanging down on one side.
4. I looked at my dash even closer and realized that there were little blood specs all over it. Not only is that discolored spot there from where he tried to clean it... but there is tiny red dots all over the dash. I am hoping they will replace my dash. (This pisses me off the most because I suspect that they didn't actually clean it until today).
Not a fun experience. This is the same dealership that dealt with me after I had my accident back in the fall. Back then, I could not have been more pleased with them. This time... different story.

see i woulda put my money on a specifically body repair shop as being the better deal, their only income is through body repairs so they'd put more time and effort into doing the job right.
and i say this because i just noticed the other day that when i had the dealership repair my gagt they forgot to reshape the trunk. it sticks out 1/4" more on the driver's side than the passenger's side. ofcourse it's only noticable to me, but still it wasn't a thorough job. not to mention the molding coming out.
dealerships have money flow from sales so you would think that doing a completely thorough job on repairs isn't at the top of their list.

Bodymen and mechanics are paid on the jobs they do, not hourly. The amount of cars a dealership sells doesnt effect them in anyway. So really, their income is only through the bosy repairs they do also. If they consistently do a poor job, then they are expendable.
On topic, thats really gross they didnt clean up the deer **** in the car- that is something worth yelling at the bodyshop manager about- part of the money you pay to fix your car includes them cleaning the inside thoroughly to the point it was before the accident.
