So I finally go around to ordering all the gaskets to do the LIM gasket change on my 3100.

Should I shampoo/clean the engine bay before doing the gasket change?

I would say do it after because that way if you spill something or make a mess its no worse off than it was. Otherwise you may have to wind up recleaning it all.

Shouldn't I be afraid of dirt and leftover crap falling into my engine? The engine bay is pretty dirty..

But you do make a valid point!

i prefer before, much easier to find leaks etc that way...

Do you think if you take your car to a shop that they clean the engine bay before doing an intake or even head gasket?? I wouldnt worry about it. I doubt that anything big enuff to do any damage is gonna get in there. Any dirt or dust that gets in there is just going to burn away when you start it.

we never do. I just make extra sure not to drop anything inside :) sockets, nuts & bolts dont burn up to well
