ok so this has been an on going problem with this damn car n i really need help...

a few months after i got the car the alternator blew n fried the wire too. after replacing the alternator with one from Advance auto parts or however its called we noticed the rest of the wire was pretty much burned up so decided to replace it...same 10 gauge wire with the fuse link n everything.

to make a long story short ive had about 5 alternators burn out on me(in a period of like 2 yrs)..the wire keeps overheating...i replaced the whole wire again about 2 months ago...n now the alternator burned out AGAIN!

also, i got my car from my Aunt, she told me she had the same 'alternator burning out' prob b4 n when it was replaced it was replaced at the dealer so this car has blew the stock ones n the ones from the discount...

So any ideas!??

btw, the whole car is stock, no system or anything like that, not even an alarm. n its a 3.1 '97 GAGT. thanks in advance for any help! ( ( (

Thicker power wire. Use atleast 8 awg and check your ground connections

yea i just finished reading a thread on ppl that use higher output alternators n used like 4 or 2 gauge wires so i thought that might work but then why would they come stock wih 10 ga if it doesnt work!? the problem is NOT the alternator right?

ok, now using a 6 ga question is, do i NEED the fuse link? what does it do? the reason im asking is because the only fuse link i found was for a 10 ga wire so i dunno if it will do w.e its suppose to do to protect the 6 ga wire...u get me?

this car really pisses me off!
