I have been reading through the threads on swaybars, via the search button, none of relate to an individual attempting to replace the front? has anybody actually attempted this? a friend and i have been looking into this(as most of the shops in my city are worthless, and my shop doesnt have a lift), to see about taking on the task ourselves. so HAS anybody attempted it yet?

Did you search for "front sway bar" or just "sway bar". Seriously 'cause I found about 10 threads on it. Just not a detailed install instruction. Anyway.... yes, there at least a dozen people on here who have the front sway bar and probably more out there. It's not exactly an easy install so most just have a shop or even dealership do it for them. It doesn't require any special tools though so you can do it yourself with some patience.

You'll need just the regular assortment of sockets, wrenches, etc. An impact gun will help getting the rear subframe bolts out but isn't absolutely necessary. If you don't have a lift, you'll need a jack and about six jack stands. You can't slide the sway bar out the side, so you have to drop the rear of the subframe about 2-3 inches and slide it out the back. Put four jack stands under the rear suspension cradle and the unibody rails up by the front subframe in order to support the entire car. Then put two jack stands under the front of the subframe rails and put your jack under the rear cross beam of the subframe (where the sway bar and steering rack are).

Once all that is in place, take out the two big long bolts and the two smaller bolts that hold the rear of the subframe to the unibody. Then loosen the two bolts that hold the front of the subframe to the unibody but don't take them out. You might have to take the fascia off the get too those bolts... I don't recall exactly and it's been a long time since I did it. You'll have to get under there and see if they're accesible. Remember your engine and exhaust and everything is still connected so you don't want to drop it too far. Just back the bolts out enough that you can let the jack down so the rear drops down enough to get the bar thru.

Now you're ready to take the bar out. Take out the end link bolts and the bolts that hold the brackets to the top of the subframe. Once the old bar is out, grease up your new bushings with plenty of silicone grease and put them on the new bar, put the new bar in same way the old one came out and re-use your brackets and end links. Once it's all bolted up jack the subframe back up and put everything back in reverse order. Make sure those frame bolts are good and tight. Put everything back on and double check it, let the car down and go for a test drive.
