Bye bye hood inserts (pics)

I was bored so I punched out the inserts on my hood.

The white spots are where I damaged the fiberglass of the hood trying to get the things off. There's still some adhesive so anyone have any bright ideas how to get rid of the rest?

Hair dryer, flat head screw driver, 6 pack of your favorite beer, and a couple hours of your time.

Seriously though, the hair dryer will really soften up the epoxy. Then you can get the flat head screw driver under it and pry some up, then if you get enough up without it breaking, youll be able to pull it off in strips.

At least thats what work well for me. The first insert was trial and error, and the other came out very well once I knew what I was doing.

Now you just need some custom car grills inserts.

Yea...I'm tempted to leave it open for the time being and decide what to do later. So many ideas so little money to do them...

On the bright side I've removed the intake resonator so I'll be getting a little airflow usage out of the hood...

i did that and its a good lil cheap mod... only thing is when it rains real good to much water gets into the engine bay if u have a warm air intake.

Some 220 grit sand paper and some touch up paint will cover up those fiberglass scuff marks.

I love when I do stuff to the car with the initial reason of "being bored." It's more fun that way lol
