im planning a small driving trip to san antonio next week. planning on stopping by the river walk and also might stop by fiesta texas on a saturday. my sister lives in Austin so we'll probably make a stop there and in san marcos for the outlet shopping. it's just me and my gf...im hoping someone can make some recommendations on what else to do or see while in the area. is there a flee market worth checking out? Last time i was in dallas my brother took us to a flee market where they served beer and smoked turkey legs. it was freakin awesome, way better than hitting up the local mall. I was thinking about checking out sea world..ive never been there. but i dont know...maybe im wrong..i got it in my head that it's more of a kids atmosphere.

Sea world was pretty decent. The rides they do have are nice and with it being mostly kids they are usually pretty clear. It also helped that I got in free. Riverwalk is the big deal there. Be sure to hit up **** last resort. Good time. Also stay away from schlitterbahn. Great water park but the lines are horrendous. If you like clubs I would try polyesters on the riverwalk. Pretty decent 3 level club. Hope ya have fun.

well...for a suite i think anything just under 100 dollars would be decent. $140 is my limit. and for something that's a basic sleep only kinda room..i guess anything from $45-60.

1st time around...we drove into town and stayed the night at a motel 6 i think it was. the room was a basic sleep only kinda room. damn i hated the shower curtain..had to keep fighting with it. anyway, that cost me only 40 some odd dollars. then we booked amerisuites for something like $115. not bad at all. but prices seem to be higher this time around. if i got to sacrifice staying in a suite for doing more shopping then so be it...but i want a decent night's sleep and some sort of breakfast in the morning.

Id suggest you stay at the La Quinta that is in downtown then. Last time I was there it was way cheaper then all the other hotels near the riverwalk. Its maybe a two minute walk off the river walk and its a really nice place too.

well it looks like im going to dallas instead.

my older brother lives there, my gf and i will probably meet up with him and his family in austin at my older sister's house for a labor day weekend barbeque. then ill drive up to dallas following my brother and kickback there at his house for a day or so. then it's off to the zoo the next day. then hit up six flags there in arlington the day after that. im gonna skip san antonio to avoid hotel costs, this opens the door for a rangers game just before we leave back for el paso.

this way im staying at my sister's house, then my brother's house...i'll be driving more so thats more gas money ill be spending, but i think this way we would be getting more bang for our buck. feel free to throw in any recommendations. ill be in dallas about 5 days. i've been checking out rangers ticket prices...damn wayyy better than i expected. i might catch fireworks after the game i'm planning to catch too. all in all a damn good vacation week is shaping up.
