View Full Version : Strut Bearing or Mount????

When I turn my wheel I get this rubbing/grinding sound and an occassional pop. Is there a way to tell which part is bad? Or should both be replaced at the same time? I also noticed on autozone's site that they offer a strut mount w/ the bearing. Is this the better route to go or should I buy them seperately?

A few suggestions: Do a bounce test to see if the strut is going bad (bounce the car up and down and watch for 3 progressively smaller bounces when you stop)
If the struts are good (in terms of how they respond) then check your tie rods by jacking up the car and wobbling the tires back and forth to see how much play there is.
As for mounts or bearings it never hurts to get new ones to go with the new parts.
