Well, while I still have the GA, I now bought a nice project car...drum roll please...

http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/8/web/2444000-2444999/2444598_1_full.jpg

1986 Pontiac Fiero 2M4
Got it for $910 on ebay, went and saw it in person before bidding. Needs some work, but otherwise it wouldn't be a project car.

Gotta start looking for parts now.

What do you guys think? A worthwhile purchase?

For under a grand, it seems to be a good car. How many miles?

Be ready to kill yourself after you have to do any work to it

Less than 80K original miles.

And its unfortunately, an auto.

But down the line I may drop in a bigger motor. Something like a 3800 S/C, or 350 V8

Although A/M is nice as hell, fieros can be quite the looker show car...Either way you decide to go, keep us updated! when do you plan on starting to mod?'

edit: Fieros arent RWD are they?

Rear engine, rear wheel drive. If i remember correctly GM just took the FWD powertrain and put it at the back of the car, or something like that.

lol rear engine and FWD FTW!

Nice pick, as someone else mentioned those can look pretty slick if done right.

Technically, the Fiero is considered a mid-engine car.

I plan to get the body patched up first, and get it back to looking stock. Then from there I will decide what, if any, aftermarket parts I'll use. I would like to put the Fiero in shows.

Wow I had no idea those engines fit in there! That's pretty sick.

You can drop in nearly any GM motor without any issues. Anything from a Quad4, up to the Northstar V8, to the 60* and 90* V6's

Northstar V8 is the engine they use in the caddys right?

Damn I just can't imagine an engine that big fitting in there 'without any issues'. I guess it's been awhile since I've seen one up close, I remember them being pretty small.

Kinda makes me want a project car...... if Seth didn't have so many problems. lol

Do searches. You'll find some that have all of what I have mentioned.

And the northstar V8 is also using in Buicks now.

a guy around here is selling his Fiero with a supercharged grand prix engine. The car looks really nice. He's actually part of the grand am club in ontario.

i wanted a turbo ls1 5spd fiero with a custom wide body final kit.... of course there would be a lot more work done but thats the basics... still might do it sometime, who knows....

I miss my Fieros now... My first car was a black 88 GT. My next car was a red 86 SE (Oh to have my 86 back) , and the one we still have is a white 84 Pace Car. The Pace Car is awesome except for the 4 cylinder part. I'm hoping to get another one someday. Now you really made me want to do it soon.

Cool man. I've always liked Fiero's. The fastback GT's were my favorite though. I almost bought one when I was 19.

Nice. Car looks solid. Yeah, there are a surprising number of people out there with highly modded fiero's and a huge number of possibilities of what you can do with them. I know a guy here in the detroit area with a northstar v8 in his. Good luck with the ride!

Yeah, I would have prefered a GT, but I like the notchback style better.

And once the Iron Duke dies, I am gonna drop in the LS4 V8 from the Grand Prix GTP. 303HP V8 in a car that weights 2500 lbs? Vette killer anyone?

ohhh let the ideas flow. id just do an LS1 and be done with it. youll never want another car again. :D
