Ok now this has been discussed 100000000x But i wanna get myself into a new car and not sure exactly what i want..theres a few things that come to mind..I want either A) A full on luxury car or B) a nice quick sporty car(by quick i dont mean 10s car but a lil faster than a GA). Either way i go i definately want leather interior lol...But heres a few things ive been thinking about...
1) Subaru WRX
230-hp 2.5-liter DOHC intercooled, turbocharged
235 lb-ft of torque
Black on Black Leather
21/26 Gas Milage
$25,600(Subaru.com)
2) Mazda 6s Grand Sport
215 hp 3.0L DOHC 24-valve V6
199 lb-ft of torque
Black on Black Leather
20/27 Gas milage
$28,270(Mazdausa.com)*Little Pricey*
3) Chevy Cobalt SS Supercharged(coupe)
205-hp 2.0L Supercharged Engine(Ecotec)
Black on Black Leather Bucketseats
22/30 Gas Milage
$21,310(Chevrolet.com)
^ Because i do alot of driving for work i might just get the SS non supercharged because the Supercharged comes in manual only.
4)Honda Accord EX
166-hp inline 4 16-Valve DOHC i-VTEC
160 lb-ft of torque
Black on Black Leather
24/34 Gas Milage
$23,450(Honda.com)
5) Pontiac G5 GT
173-hp 2.4L DOHC VVT ECOTEC four-cylinder
Black on Black Leather
25/34 Gas Milage
$20,150(FULLY loaded on pontiac.com)
*I was told this car is turbod. Same engine as the Cobalt but turbo not SCed but pontiac website doesnt say it is**
6) Pontiac G6 GT(coupe)
224-hp 3.5L V6 SFI
220 lb-ft of torque
Black on Black Leather
20/28 Gas Milage
$24,000(FULLY loaded on pontiac.com)

I would go with the Mazda 6, if you can afford it, loaded your looking around $30k, but they are really sweet cars, and handle very, very well, nice smooth ride for the class its in.

yea only thing keeping me away from mazdas is the rediculous way their engines are put together and how they are mounted..

Define a "full on luxury car" because none of those cars you listed are it.

Im looking at the wrx just as you are right now. 2006 you can get starting at 23,000 if you can talk them down that low.

That doesnt even make sense. I wouldnt really consider these cars sports cars either, but eh....
Have you driven a cobalt or G5? I took a cobalt out for a spin, didnt even take it for a full test drive. I had been looking at them for months and months, then the local dealer finally got one in... started down the road, and turned right around. I hated it. Way to small for comfort for me, and the ride was aweful.
Cant say much about the G5, but its the same as the cobalt except a few minor details...
You just need to go and take the cars your looking at for a drive, that will help you narrow it down in a hurry. Dont cross any off your list until you atleast drive it, you may want to cross one off your list now, but after driving the one you think you really want, you might change your mind.

IIRC mazda uses weird mounting techniques in their engine bay, engines go N to S instead of E to W or something..And mazda engines are very specific to work on..Yea i definately wanna test drive these cars before i scratch them out...

...mazda engines are very specific to work on...
Thats true about all manufactures though.... unless its a car that is sharing the parts from another manufacture..... ex. 350z and g35....
However Ford is using the mazda 6 chassis for the fusion and mercury milan..... i dont know if engines are the same.... but reguardless..... while its under warrenty, I would be taking it to the dealer anyway...... so if jim bobs auto doesnt have the tools or know how to fix it, then take it to the dealer for work... small price to pay for a really sweet car.

I dont know about you but iv always loved inline engines most of the best 4cylinder engines have been in. like lets take the sr20det or RB26DETT-N1 or even the V35 are some of the best inline engines.

Mazda engines are inline? i knew they were alligned like that but i was always under the influence that they have some crazy mounting technicques lol like the engine is almost upside down or some crap.

You're 19 so honestly I would look at buying something used for around 18-20k maybe a leftover 05 model, unless you have an awesome job I dont see any reason to buy a 30k car at that age you'll kick yourself for doing it if you want to move out a few years from now. Especially if you buy another pontiac buy used they depreciate so fast the first 2 years anyway you can probably get a good deal on a used one, maybe snatch a used 04 GTO for under 20k

Yea exactly. Liek i said all those prices were for brand new cars which i dont plan on getting. Only brand new car i might think about is the G5 cuz its pretty cheap as is..if not ill prolly look for a used G6 gt or maybe a gtp if the price is right...i dont think ill look for a new car for another 6monthes to a year maybe longer tho because i have alot left to pay on the GA yet..and i mightb e getting a badass job for cingular Corporate soon where ide make alot of dough...

Most likely by time you get a new car, the g5 and Cobalt with both have turbo'd ecotechs, meaning the ss/sc we have now will go down in value (hopefully).
Thats what I would buy if i were you, a nice 06 ss/sc. I drove a 05 and loved it.
If I could afford it id have that or a bike.

Mazdaspeed 3 will be coming out as a 2007 model. It will have the 260+hp MS6 turbo 2.3L engine. If you can wait - that would be an awesome car for about $22K.

first off, if the g were turbo'd it would have more than 173 hp. also, its junk.
the mazda IS a ford, nothing special about it. for $30k, i wouldnt get a mazda6, its such a bland car. the mazdaspeed maybe, but even that, im not impressed with compared to other cars in its price range.
the maxima is a very cool sports sedan for a good price, expecially a used one. Even the altima 3.5, for $24k, is faster in the 1/4 than the mazdaspeed6.
i would avoid any domestic car for now. their prices might be low, but so are the resale values, and their technology isnt up to par with the japanese equivalents. even going korean, like with the huyndai sonata, you should be pretty happy. those cars can move (with the v6), look nice, and are cheap. dont forget the 100k mile warranty.

I'd go with the Wrx or possibly the MazdaSpeed 6 or 3.
IrateSpeed6
09-01-2006, 08:03 PM
Mazdaspeed 3:
- Turbo 2.3L
- 264hp 280lb-ft
- Lighter than the GTi and has 64hp and 74lb-ft more
- Top Speed: 149MPH (governed)
- 6-speed manual
- LSD
- 1/4 mile in high-13's
- Volvo S60 brake calipers, rotors etc.
- ~$23,000 Fall '06
Damn, I may look into getting this myself

Uh, everything u just said is bass ackwards. Most of the best 4 cylinder engines have been inline? Try all. The only 4cyl engines that aren't inline are the subaru EJ's and some of the older porsche engines, which are boxer or "flat" engines. The cylinders lay horizontal and go out to either side opposite each other which makes the engine very low profile. No one makes V4 cylinder engines. A few manufacturers tried but the design proved inefficient. With an inline 4 you use less parts and need less space so you get a smaller, lighter, and more powerful engine. And you list the RB26DETT which is inline but is a six cylinder, and the VQ35 which isn't inline, it's a V6.
Oh, and someone mention about different manufacturers sharing parts and quoted the 350Z and the G35... those are the same manufacturer. Both made by Nissan as parent company and the G35 is just badged as an Infinite which is just a brand, not a manufacturer.

that would be correct, thank you for bringing that up. one example of chared parts among different brands is the vibe/gaytrix (oops, matrix). also, the subaru wrx wagon and the saab 9-2x ( i think thats it).
imagine the VQ35 engine in a GM car.

Mazda is having some amazing incentives this time of year, you should check them out. For example, you can get a Mazdaspeed 6 that lists for $28,855 for about $25,000.

Personally, I'd get the Cobalt SS or the G6 coupe.
Yeah, the Mazdaspeed 3 is coming out soon and that would be cool, but its a frikkin wagon, and to me, wagon's are for either gay guys or whipped married guys who wear fanny packs everywhere they go.
