Yea so i have a new sound for my car and its a mix between a cement mixer and popcorn popping. So yea if you cant figure it out i have a horrendous knock in my engine. Im pretty sure i know what its from and its 100% my fault but basically my low oil light was on for maybe 2-3 days, so i put some oil in, was fine(this is way before the sound), 2 days later the lights back on again so im like wtfek, must have a oil leak. So i was in a financial bind because im buying my own apartment and all my bills n crap that i have(yes im 19 and have alot of bills) so i wasnt able to pick up oil until i got payed, unfortunately that was a week and a half-2 weeks from when the light came back on. So i drove it still and it didnt knock. So i goto my mechanic to get inspection done and on the way there i hear the knock very very low..didnt think anything of it..Go there, fail inspection lol, and leave and the knocks still there. So anyway the next day the knock gets louder and it happened every time i accelerate. So about 2 more days goes by and i get money and put oil in the car hopefully to fix it, but it gets worse, so today i drove to work and i was trying to accelerate past 70mph up a hill and theres 0 power and all u hear is crunching and the knock all together so i let off and try to cruise, so now my car doesnt accelerate past 60mph. Takes about 5minutes to get up to 60 too...So basically im a :asshat and my car is pretty much shot, almost 70k miles and im sure its gonna be junked. Question i have is, is there a way to fix this knock? Is there anyway to salvage the engine and keep it going or is it like pretty much shot?

i know what its like to be strapped for cash, but id never let my car run out of oil waiting for a paycheck. Get a friend to lend you some cash, ask the boss for some cash, something. Bottom line it ended up screwing you in the long run. Guess you learned your lesson.

Insurance adjuster says hes going out tommorow morning to look at it. Says he doesnt think he will total it. If so im definateyl going to need a brand new engine. My mechanic said just the engin e is gonna be 3200 and at least 1000 in labor so as long as they dont think its more than what my cars worth ill get the car with a new engine in 2 weeks or so. My car is about worth 5g..hopefully they cut me a check for 5g's, ill get it fixed for 4200-4500 and i get 500 or so for myself :-)..i do need brakes lol

Are they going to send in the junked engine or are you going to keep it and build it up?
