i drove 3 hours to get this done. and let me tell you it was worth every second. he knows what he is doing, and i would recomend this for anyone that has put more then $1000 into performance parts. the first thing i noticed is the shifts. they went from about average to sh*t it and get it. i dont get any slipping it just, i want to say mashes, but that sounds like its hurting the tranny, but i think that is the best word for it. really awesome. but thats only under i would say about 70% throttle or more. anything less then that feels like normal. also my gas millege has been great. i have drove it like i got a new mod, which is kinda hard, and my GM has been where it normally is when i drive it like a 80 year old woman. cant wait for the next road trip to see what mpg i'm getting. i also cant wait to go to the track. this year might be too late though. track here is closed for the winter already. i'll bet this alone took 0.2 seconds off my qm. not too shabby for 1 mod. highly recomended, i'm a very pleased customer.

drive on up to the track on sunday in union grove to meet us up there its probably about another 3hr drive but it would be nice to have some more ga's up there. good to hear another happy customer of mark's im thinking about getting it done also even though i have not performance mods yet. did you get just a standard tune or did you have them custom any settings?

very very tempting. its on the Bears bye week. but its a 3 hour drive. i'll have to think about it. plus i get to meet the detailing expert Coupe. i'll have to talk to the other 1/2 and see if she wants too, which she wont, and if we have the money i'll just force her to go. lol. so we will see. thanks for the invite Coupe.

wow thanks Coupe. you rock. again i'll have to talk to master in command, so its up in the air right now.
ever try yelling at a 6.5" tv screen while driving 75mph AJ? its not exactly the safest or easiest thing to do.

I've had Mark's tune on my computer for a few months now and I will also concur that it rocks. I had it done to my completely stock GA and was very impressed with the immediate and noticable results. I highly recommend Mark's tunes for anyone with or without mods... Not to mention his CAI is pretty cool too!

Yeah I would say Mark does a good job. I have been having a few problems with mine but he is there helping me 100 percent of the time so we are working things out right now

ive also gotten the tune and the car runs awsome definetly shifts smoother, better mpg, you can feel it pull harder through the gears. definetly worth the money, now i just need the exhaust and intake to improve upon it.

If you like his tune now wait til you get your intake and exhaust. He'll tweak the tune to compensate and its great! The power increase is subtle at low speeds but once it gets going its night and day.

I had a Gen3 Magnacharger on the car, and with powertuner and Xtreme Motorsports that specializes in Vettes and GM, they spent 4 days straight and couldnt get the car to run right. Torque Management problems, Speed Govenor Problems, MAF table, and Injector Pulse Bandwidth stuff, timing, etc
Anyway, Im back to N/A with just the bolt-ons.
MODS:
3400 Engine Swap
62mm RSM TB + Port Matched UIM.
"Cold Air Box" Doctor speed intake
S&S Ceramic HEaders + Downpipe, 2 1/2" Inch exhaust all the way back to HP Racing Muffler, No Cat. Using O2 sim, would like that code deleted.
180 Hyperstat Thermostat
Trailblazer Injectors (Originally for more fuel for SC)
Casper Electronics Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator
My PCM is currently DHP. They adjusted the Injector Pulse Bandwidth for the larger injectors, and basically did their standard tune.
I feel the the IPB is a tad off, and car could be running too rich as well, I think there is some HP to free up with a good tune, especially with the Malibu Originally coming with the 3100, the 3400 tune would be good. Plus the Top Speed Governor doesnt seem 100% turned off.
Wanted someone knowledgable to put on Dyno, and tune it right. Let me know your thoughts, appreciate your help! Thanks.

for those that have mark's tune.. did you get a 'custom' tune or a 'basic' tune done?
lvemy3100
03-10-2007, 12:27 PM
AFIK no one on the net runs a full custom tuning from my Co. (I could be wrong)...
in any case all the tuning we do is "custom".. those with "basic" tunes are running known safe settings based on the mods they currently have on their car (this includes trans settings)... when we refer to "cutom tuning"we are talking about spending quite a bit of time to dial in the PCM to the vehicle and its current condition/mods based on data logged from driving the car....

I realized the last pot was three months ago, I only joined a few days ago.
I've gotten a basic tune from Mark and love it. The day I drove up I left home with a full tank of gas and after he tuned my car and I drove home I made it all the way down to Dwight Illinois before I had to fiil up the tank. I put in 12.87 gallons in the tank and looked at the trip odometer and it read 513 miles, when I calculated what I got for MPG I was pleased, roughly around 39 MPG.
There's plans to do more to mine, especially since after I put the Bu on the Dyno down in St Louis during the NOPI show.

Well I didn't really check it much before the tune but I was getting around 27 MPG, without getting on it hard.

THANKS MP RACING!!!!!!!!
I got the new PCM from Mark, and was able to pass emissions today!!! DHP's PCM that was custom tweaked for my setup would have 3 tests in "Not Ready" mode. Can only have up to two in "Not Ready" to pass OBD test.
DHP's customer service is absolutely horrible! Didnt help me out, never followed through on ANY help desk ticket, didnt listen to what I had to say. Their tuning had a lot of things off.
Mark took the time to listen, answer my questions, analyze, and do a great job. With the new PCM, my car runs a lot better too. I just wanted to ay thanks! Great Job!

ugh i hate to bring this thing back but iv been thinking about this thing more seriously lately. if you mileage went up 12 miles per gallon then it'll pay for itself if you do enough driving. damn i might just do this next instead of other crap i had in mind lol
-anyone else get those kind of mileage gains?

Don't hurt me Mark- I keep forgetting about the review I owe ya! ;crap
Prior to the tune that Mark did for me I was getting 17-20/21-24 MPG mixed/highway. After the tune over the period of the couple months I've installed the PCM, I average 21-24/25-28 mixed/highway driving. :applause: Not a 12MPG gain but still very significant considering the prices I pay here in Cali.
What's interesting was that I tested two straight tanks of 89 in the car to see if it would make a difference. Although a small data point I did notice that with the 89 the car felt "off" and I was getting 1-4 MPG less than with 87.

your original mileage sounds pretty close to what i get now...crummy. and hell, any gain is worthwhile cuz gas will only go up ^^^^. so you got more mileage with 87 than 89 you said right?

i would definately consider getting the tune. i have it and it is one of the best things i have done as far as modding is concerned. Well worth the money. look at the mods i have. Basically only 2 things plus the tune and i ran the time i did. And actually that time is decieving because there was wheelspin involved. Probably could have got it down to 15-15.1

oh ya man, i am seriously thinking about it getting it i just was curious about the mileage if it went up and by what kind of gains you saw. im sold on it, i just need to get a few things straigtened out on the car before that; ie new headlights cuz mine suck for nite driving lol.

Wow you gained over a half second of your quarter mile with those mods? Gotta slip?
