Basically what the title says. What car can be made to go 11-12's in the quarter for under 20k including the car price?

about 3-4 years ago a few of my friends were really into Honda/Acura. They were able to hit 12's with a boosted B series in a EG hatch or a CRX. They didn't even come close to 20K with the price of the car.

As much as 99% of this site doesnt want to hear it, you can def get a few imports into that range. Civic, integra, rsx. I would think even a used GTP for no more then 12-15k would leave you 10k to mod with. 10k towards the right equipment should pull those fockers into the 12's. It just comes down to what you want to do to it.

CAR not BIKE!

anyways... here's some thoughts....

any DSM - AWD - 4G63 - if you get a good one, it will not take THAT much to make it hook and book.

5.0 Mustang

CRX hf - plug n play ecu, motor swap w/ mild internal build up, turbo, and slicks.........

Salvage titled Cavalier w/ an ecotec lol.

240sx w/ an RB swap.

Beat up Buick waiting for a GN heart transplant. lol.

You can make a 5oh go pretty fast for $20k...car included. ;)

Stick around $5k in the car (exhaust, heads, intake mani, cam, gears, sticky tires) and it should go pretty deep into the 12's.

You can find them in pretty good shape for under $10k....with a little over $10k in mods I would be pissed if it didnt run low 11's high 10's.

DSM.. hands down one of the easiest, i saw one that ran low 11's (its easily a mid to low 10 second car with minor tuning) for under 11k including purchase price and they're aiming for 9's... oh and just imagine if he had the AWD system to actually hook up all that power, yup, 11's for under 11k in a fwd dsm :D

side note- my dads gfs son just got a TSI... had it to 120 earlier tonight, haha

Used Spec V = $8,000 (maybe cheaper find one with a dead engine)
VQ35 swap kit = $1000
VQ35 engine = $1500
supporting bolt on mods = $1500

easily runs 12s I'll probably do the swap in mine if/when my engine dies

How about a Fiero, with a 3800 S/C swap? Or even a 4.9L Northstar!

i would say either a civic, or a 93-97 camaro, would be your best bet. the civic would be only for the track, and the camaro would be street legal. oh and the civic would be a hell of a lot easier to work on. good luck.

5.0 mustang from 87-95 will be the easiest and cheapest to get to those times. I'm 8k into my car including car cost and all the little things i've had to do, including wheels and tires and i will be kissing 12's before I put gears in, once gears are in i'll hit 12's no problem. And all this for under 10k

Sweet! Those are some good mods you have done. Have you run the car at the track yet? 12's would be nice in a SN95. Just think if you had a much lighter fox :slayer

Early 90's honda civics for sure. The cars can be found cheap and have lots of potential, and the aftermarket is so huge that parts are cheap and you can find anything under the sun.

DSM's too. About any 1st or 2nd gen eclipse, talon, laser etc can be made fast as heck if you get the correct drivetrain with the 4G63 turbo and even better with the 4wd. Again lots of parts available and several companies that specialize in those cars with proven track records.

Last two gen's mustangs or last two gen's F-bodies. Same as both above.

Basically what the title says. What car can be made to go 11-12's in the quarter for under 20k including the car price?

Now this is a matter of what you can do and what you cannot do. If you are unable to search the internet for parts, build a motor, build a transmission, and install your own parts, it may cost more so that changed things around. How much of the work can you do yourself?

we were gonna head to the strip with the tsi today but the other car we were gonna go with never showed up (600-700hp single turbo rx7)... estimating about a low 14 with problems... with tuning and repairs a low 13 would be easy

AWD DSM FTW!! lol
