Yeah, yeah I know a lot of you don't like the look of the Azteks, but we've found a sweet deal on one, and we need a Daily Driver to take the place of the Trans-Am this winter, don't want to deal with the snow/salt on the new paint job, and also need something to be able to haul a trailer.
So, anyone know any Aztek Forums?

what a horrible decision; I'm sorry, unless you're getting it for $237 including registration fees and tax, that POS isn't worth dirt.

Exactly - I think you can actually tow more with a Grand Am than an Aztec because of the gross vehicle weight rating.

Do what i did and buy a truck.
http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d104/Rand81/truck.jpg
96 GMC sierra Z71 extended cab.
Power everything, leather seats and posi rear end.
Picked it up for $5900 with 120K on the clock. I will easily be able to get 200K+ out of this truck.
And dont give me any "gas will kill me" crap either. If your worried about gas mileage you dont need to be towing anything.

Well that is how I feel about Mazda I think that the SPEED versions are just turbo charged weenie mobils, if you wanted a fast car you should have spent a few more bucks like me and gotten a GTO. Now I think that you all should just say congrats on the new car and let the man make his own gosh darn decisions

i dont think he was looking to buy a fast car because he already has a trans am that will rape your GTO. i think the mazda is a pretty nice and fast daily driver for him. mazda speeds are nice imo. my friend had a protege speed but thats getting off topic.
as ugly as it is...the grand am's towing cap is 1500, while the azteks is 3500.

Well, we need a Daily Driver, the Trans-Am everyday isn't going to cut it.
The Aztek has 66k on the ODO for $2,500, I don't think that can be beat.
Leather seats, towing package.....only downfall is it's 2wd.

I'll give you 2 pounds of my poop and 20oz of my piss for free. That's a good deal, isn't it? I know a little extreme, but come on.

Only being 2wd will be a huge downfall.... it'd be a sled in the snow... Or are they FWD? I'm too lazy to look.

GTO aint stock partner, so unless he has 15,000 in that Trans Am and runs low 11's he aint beating me.

That doesn't matter. Stock for stock, the GTO is still a quicker car that is better all around.
Can't hate the Trans Am's looks though

He hasn't bought it yet so I'm trying to over-emphasize my point to hopefully prevent a future bad decision.

FWD or AWD w/versatrack or something were the choices.

Meh, looks like it's a moot point anyway......just got back from insurance, they want $1200 every 6 months in addition to the $840 we pay every 6 months for the Trans-Am. Don't quite understand that one......even when we changed the Trans-Am to a pleasure car (3,000mi/yr) it only reduced the T/A to $780.
To answer Braves tho, it's FWD. Amanda would be Daily Driving this if we got it, she dosen't drive in the snow...period. It's really the Road Salt and the mileage on the T/A we want to save. She's driving it close to 2.5k miles/month right now...just too much we feel. Also want to make it more track oriented, just ordered header/exhaust for it, and planning on cam, gears and intake....
My cousin works for a Chevy/Caddy dealer in Southern MD, this car was a trade-in they had on a new Trailerblazer. They gave him $2,500 on the trade in, car is Blue Booked at $3,500 for trade in, $5,300 Private Party, and over $6k dealership. They give them choice of buying the cars for trade in if they want, he knew I was looking for something and offered to get it for me. Car has MD State Inspection, I mean it's a real great deal...however, another $2.5k in insruance per year is killing me.

Its your age and location probably thats whats killing your rates
Its your age and location probably thats whats killing your rates
But on an AZTEK? And dont more cars = cheaper insurance, or atleast a better rate per vehicle usually?
I assume the GA is your DD and thats why she cant use that ?

I dunno maybe the assteck has bad crash ratings? I get multicar discount but it doesnt amount to much maybe $50
Insurance makes no sense I'm looking into a 3rd car right now lets just put it this way its twice what I paid for my sentra and its cheaper to insure lol

No need to take it personally.
About the insurance... I never quite understood it. My uncle went from a 01 minivan (couldnt tell you which) to an 06 Trailblazer LT and his insurance went down. Safety features are the only thing I can think of.

Thats what we though, but even to get it down to $500 more per month than we're paying, it would be all minimums. No collision, no comp, all the minimums on the rest.
The GA is hardly driven anymore...around here all the speed bumps and ****ty parking lots cause me not to drive it much for fear of destroying the body work.
I drive it probably 500-600 miles a month, weekends mostly.
I daily drive a 07 Malibu Maxx.

Apparently this is so, as its what we were told after we went back. The Aztek has a 2 1/2 star on the driver in a front or side impact, so that raises rates, also the model he has dosen't have the Traction Control, which is apparently another biggy.
We were most surprised by the rates since ~3 weeks ago we'd gotten a quote on an additional $200 per month for a 03 Sunfire, but ended up not going that route.
So, suggestions for a ~$4500 SUV/Truck that is a decent Daily Driver, can tow the Grand-Am or the Trans-Am? Want to try to get less than 75k on the odo.

Nope, the aztek isn't all that heavy (compared to a truck anyway) and they have a 3400 engine but mated to a 4T65 instead of a 4T45 tranny so that = higher towing capacity. I would still get a trans fluid cooler though if you're going to be towing with it.
They had an available 4wd version with a 4T65 that had a rear output shaft, but the 2wd version was fwd (obviously with the 4T65) so it will still handle snow ok. Especially with traction control and good tires.
The thing to watch for on them is brakes. Freind of mine had one and I ended up doing a brake job for him because the rotors were shot. Same problem GA's have with stock rotors. Other than that, yeah it's a very ugly vehicle (probably why they're cheap), but for the amount of room they have in them, hauling capacity, interior comfort and all the neat accessories you can get for them, they are very practical transportation.

Insurance makes no sense...
:applause: Truest but biggest understatement evar!...
Like why is it that insurance premiums keep going up ever year, even though the value of the car goes down and the payout if it gets wrecked goes down ever year? And they never want to give you fair value for it anyway and you have to fight for every nickel. You'd think if the value that the car's insured for goes down then the premium should go down too. That would be logical. But they don't make sense. Insurance is suck a scam! I wouldn't even have it if it wasn't required by law in this state. I'd take all that money and put it in the bank. At least I'd earn interest and it would be there if my car got wrecked and I needed to buy a new one.

I don't get why everyone hates the Aztek. It is a unique, versatile SUV that actually gets GOOD gas milage.
Now what I want to know is where you found an Aztek for $2500? I have been wanting one since it first came out.
Oh, and as for your aztek forum, try Aztek Fan Club (www.aztekfanclub.com)

Last I knew a friend of mine found a loophole that would get you "insured" for a single month payment every 6 months or somethin like that. I need to ask him because I'm sure I won't be on my parents plan forever lol. And I'm sure you all will throw :rx7: on this, I'm kinda leaning that way, but it'd be nice if it were true.

Searching AutoTrader gets you pretty much nothing like that. Maybe for more miles, but all I found was a few Geo Trackers (and other things that probably wouldn't be good for towing) and damaged vehicles.

Yeah, another reason we thought this was great (the price), until the insurance :(
We're looking for a TrailBlazer now, Nationwide agent told her she can get full coverage on an 02+ TB for $300 over what we're paying now, so basically got an extra $700 to spend on the car, I've already found a couple decent ones for $5500.
Can't wait two more years until I'm done college, then have a real job lmao, just buy a new car.

I doubt he'd buy it for you @ price, as you are not me, if you're really interested though I can see what he'd do or what they have it listed on the lot as.
