spent about 5-6 hrs doing a full detail today havent ever done this and my car hasnt been waxed since the spring.

washed with dawn dish soap
claybared for the 1st time ever using meguiers claybar kit
megs 3 step scratch, polish, and wax
meguiers tire foam

car looks great finshed up in the garage cuz i lost sunlight so ill try and get some pics up tomarrow.

all this is done by hand and ill have to say is i cant move my right arm cuz im so damn tired.

pu$$y

anyways, a tip for future reference, regardless of sunshine always finish up in the garage when going full detail for two reasons. the first is that if you are claybarring, you don't have to worry about the wind picking up and placing more crap on your car while you are doing this, the paint will be completely free of dirt and composites. the second reason is wax application, pretty obvious as to why i would think.

anyways, pics are needed, kthnxgbye.

um...am i missing something or is dawn now known to clean a car without taking off the clear coat? last i heard, car wash soap was recommended for washing a car.

i always recommend doing everything out of the sunlight. it prevents water spots and oxidation from the wax.

wasnt hot out today today and there was no wind. dawn was used to remove any wax or grease on the car before claybar otherwise i usually use carwash soap when washing the car.

dish soap shouldn't hurt the clear but it will strip every once of wax off of the car like Gizm0815 stated.
That's the same detailing process I use every spring.

Can't wait to see pics :D

I hate the whole DAWN dish soap removing wax thing.
The soap itself wont hurt anything and it also dosent remove wax. It may weaken it but it wont remove it.

Test it:

First wax both front fenders.

One side wash with dawn and dry the fender.
Run your finger down the fender.
Feel the slickness and smoothness.
Put some water on it, look at the beeds of water.

The other side spray with isopropyl alcohol.
Wipe dry.
Do the same thing you did on the dawn side.

You should be able to see why dawn dosent remove wax very well or at all right away.

We need pics of your work!
As the others have said, do everything in shade or garage!
So you used the megs DC 3 step?
Paint cleaner, pure polish, nuaba wax.

ya coupe i used step 3 it was all done by hand only reason it was done outside is cuz it was not hot out at all and there was no wind and actually the only steps done outside where the wash and claybar the rest got done in the garage that what i get for starting late in the day i spent about 2hrs between the wash and claybar, took my time cuz it was the 1st time ive claybared a car and wanted it to make sure i did it right. ill get pics up this afternoon after class

As long as the paint is cool to the touch.
It can be a cold day but if its sunny your paint still gets pretty warm.

The clay bar and DC 1 should have taken the longest becuase they where never done before. Now ya just gotta maintane it.

Dont worry, you cant hurt anything. Just keep the surface lubed while claying.
