I am in the process of buying the EM charger from sc02grandam. I dont have the money to get into the engine/trans yet although that is ultimately where Ill go over the next couple of years. I have a couple questions:
First off if I use the stock sc pulley and run 6psi, will the computer adapt to run properly or am I going to need a custom tune?
Secondly, is the tranny going to hold up ok, keep in mind i dont abuse the car on a regular basis, and its only a weekend driver
Third, does anyone have the original manual for the install of the supercharger?
I am getting super excited and Ill post pics as soon as it is on, but Im sure Ill be back during/after the install to look for some help.

If you want the full benefit from the charger then you will need a custom tune. After spending $3000 for the charger another $400 for tuning software should not be a problem.

I don't think that answered his questions.
1.) I believe that the Eaton with the stock pulley should work ok with the stock PCM settings. I have a powrtuner, and there is a section titled "supercharger" where there are various settings relating to the interaction between the PCM and SC. I think that several on the boards ran the Eatons before we had access to PCM tunes, but I wasn't around then, so I'm not sure what all was required for this.
2.) The tranny should be ok, I've been at 5+ PSI with a turbo (where boost is far less linear than your SC) and only have minor problems, and I drive pretty agressively. Many have gone quite a while (year plus) without having anything break. As mentioned elsewhere, the clutchplates will most likely be the first parts you have to address.
3.) No idea.

IIRC you can actually aquire a tune from a GM dealership that would have come with the kit when they were being sold years back. I vaguely remember something like that but I am probably wrong.
As far as the trans, get an auto trans interceptor to harden up your shifts.
But at that point, I understand you are low on cash but the ATI runs over $100 ... might as well just save face and pick up the DHP PowerTuner for $400 that way you KNOW the car will run right AND you can adjust some of the transmission settings as the ATI would do, plus when you get to work on the internals, you already have the tuner ready...

Nah dude, no tune from the dealership for this kit, you're thinking about the 2.4 kit.
Will the kit work out of the box with a custom tune? Yeah. Will it be any faster? not by much. Like Spruce said, to truly take advantage of any sort of boost, tune the car for it.
The install manual for the SC is posted here somewhere.

Correct me if I'm wrong. But I don't think the "Supercharger" section was made with the GA in mind. I think it was put in for the GP GTP since it has a computer controlled S/C. GM used alot of the same code between models and just adjusted it as needed. The Eaton he is talking about is, as far as I know, not computer controlled.

Yeah, I have no idea, I just noticed that section, and was pretty sure that guys had used the Eaton with stock PCMs, so I made the ASSumption that it was for GAs. lol I've been wrong before (oil cooling down, etc.) :)

I also have the manual. iirc someone even posted it up here once.
1) If you use the fuel pressure modifier that comes with the kit, then yes you can run it at stock boost levels and it will be fine. The trans will last quite a while too if you take care of it and get a cooler. Once you start upping the boost though the stock injectors will start running out of room and you'd be better off getting bigger ones and custom tuning. You'll get more out of it with a custom tune anyway.
2) At stock boost levels you'll be at around 190whp. How long the tranny will last depends completely on your power level and how hard you drive it. If you increase the boost or do other things to raise the power, and/or start racing it regularly, then it's going to burn out faster. It's the same wether you are boosted or running NA or nitrous at those HP levels.
Couple quick points. The supercharger section in the powertuner is for GP's not GA's. We have no settings in that folder. No, GM never had a program for boosted GA's since they never sold the kit. They only sold the SC kit for the 2.4L. Also the auto trans inceptor is a band aid. You are just as likely to break something in the trans with the line pressure too high if it's adjusted incorrectly. You can adjust all that stuff with a powertuner and do it correctly.
