I am looking for a good exhaust cut out. I don't need one that is electrical. The manual chord one is fine if they are known to work ok... (are they?) I see the one on PFYC but that is kinda expensive. anyone know where I could get one with that cable? jegs.com doesn't have one... well they do but it is only 2 " i am pretty sure...

Yeah electrical can become a pain.
Do you have an autobarn?
They carry them.
Or just google exhuast dump, exhaust cutout etc

I don't think anyone makes a cable operated one anymore. I haven't seen one in years... probably because they were hard to operate and had problems sealing properly... which is why most are electric now. What's such a pain about the electric cutout by the way? It doesn't get any easier. Only down side is the price, and if you can't afford it and only want the cutout for racing then just get a cutout with a bolt on plate you can take off at the track. If you want to be able to open it on-the-fly then buy the electric. Gotta pay to play.

We are talkin about ones with just a bolted on plate with butterfly nuts.
Sooner or later the electric ones will fail. Both here and my truck forums guys eventually have to fix something with the electric cutout.

That's why you get a high quality one that'll last, but yea I see where you're coming from. We'll see how long mine lasts through these salty winters.

No, the guy in the first post was talking about one with a cable that could be opened and closed manually. I've heard of them being used in the past on some muscle cars but haven't seen one in a long time which is why I said I don't think you can find them anymore. Which is why I recommended just getting the electric, or just a bolt on plate like you are talking about. ;)

You probably could rig one up yourself if you really wanted. All you'd need is an example to work off of or enough info to figure it out yourself...

You mean the cutout outlet size is only 2" or the entire Y-pipe is only 2" thru? That is pretty small, but you could probably cut off the outlet side and cut a hole in a 2.5" pipe and weld it on... so you'd have a Y-pipe that's 2.5" thru with a 2" cut-out. It would still be pretty loud and increase flow while still giving you the manual operation you want. That's one idea.

www.summitracing.com and www.jegs.com have cable operated cutouts, but they are only 2". That would be the weak link in the exhaust. See what you think and get back with us.
