Got my truck ready for winter.
The old girl needed some TLC something fierce. It had never really been taken care of by the first 2 owners and the first 7 years of its life it belonged to a roofer who obviously didnt care what it looked like but kept it in mechanicly perfect shape so i cant be to upset. The second owner was the same situation except this owner had it "professionaly buffed out" and becuase of that there where rotary halograms all over the entire truck. These halograms where probably the worste ive ever seen and ive seen ALOT. Most of my side work is people who had their vehicles "professionaly buffed out" and then they bring it to me to fix the hack job they got.

I removed 90% of all the scrathes, swirls, water spot etching and bird bomb etching. I could have removed 100% of the imperfections but becuase of the severity of the paint and the size of the vehicle i wasnt able to put in the extra time. Next spring im gonna bring it up to 100%. Wont be hard to get it there since i already removed the worste of it.

Process and products.
Wash, 2 bucket method
claybar with clay magic
Meguires #83 with a sonus DAS orange cutting pad.
Meguires #80 with a sonus DAS green polishing pad.
Meguires #82 with a sonus DAS blue finishing pad.
isopropyl alcohol wipe down
Meguires quick detailer wipe down
Liquid glass for the sealant.
2 days later rewashed and put on a coat of meguires #26 hi-tech yellow nuaba wax.
Rims cleaned with all purpose cleaner.
Tires dressed with meguires hot shine tire foam.

Total time 18 hours over the course of 14 days.

I dont have any before pics, stupid me totaly forgot until i was on the second stage of polish, DOH!!
To give you an idea of what it was like and what i did here is an older pic.
Left side before (the whole truck looked like that but much worse) and right side is after.

You can see here the total paint failure on the front grill area. I got quoted $40 to have it repainted.

I would but there are already books, DVD's and whole websites dedicated to how to detail and correct paint. Other wise i would in a heart beat.

God Damn! Looks like brand new paint. My "new" car could use a few hours with you.

Edit: Good choice on tires, they are phenominal (sp?) tires IMO. My dad has them on his F-150 and I drove his truck in 8 inches of snow and it was like there was no snow on the road.

That's a really nice lookin' truck man. Those things are pretty dependable, but you'd be hard pressed to find one that old around here with a body that nice. Most people use em for work and just beat on them and don't take care of them at all.
