Hi! Everyone,

I am a new member here..just purchased a white 98 Grand Am GT. So, far I like it and have no plans to begin modding it..but, we all know how that goes

I used to have a 5 speed Contour SVT. I miss the horsepower 190 stock! but, I might do better than that after I go to work on my little new friend..lol

You'll love the GAGT, I have ever since I got mine (yeah, it's newer, but that body style was still nice) ^.^

190 HP stock, there are grand am's on here with 400 I think is the top guy right now, funny thing is its an SE 4 banger (sad day for us V6 guys, JK). Welcome to the site, soon you will probably be just as addicted to this site as I am. Just out of curiosity, why did you get rid of the SVT, neat little cars if you ask me.

this is arguably the best GA site around so i encourage you to stick around, but if you havent heard about it already, www.gaownersclub.com is geared more towards the pre-99's, so you may find more helpful info there.

and to be fair there was once a GA rated around 190 hp.

Well I wouldn't be so sure that spy's current throne will last. Unfortunately due to the weather Schweppe23 couldn't do any runs BUT he's recently retuned his ride and expects to have a very nice slip number soon.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I must say if there is a 400 hp Grand Am on here that's pretty impressive. You guys are going to give me the mod bug again...lol Here's a pic of my Contour SVT. I sold it do to electrical problems..was a Ford at least 5x to fix the same thing..I just got tired of fixing it.

well on the plus side you did a tasteful job on the ford..so i don't have to worry about any untasteful work on the gagt :D

The only thing I did to the exterior is shave some moldings..dropped it as low as possible. It had racing wires/colder plugs and a stupid CAI :)

It also had sound effects and I once pulled up next to a Camaro, at a stop light. I missed the shift as I pulled up next to him. The car reved and the other guy thought I wanted to race. When it turned green he was gone..lol He probably called me a ricer since SVT's come with a bodykit from the factory..lol ;0) I would never race a z28.. plus I always keep it at the track.

good rule, track ftw, roads ftl.

he probably thought you were a sleeper, car that small with a decent build on the engine i would imagine would be pretty damn fast (anyone know the contour record qm?)

How is it going and welcome, just dont do stupid stuff (argue with the mods) like me and get banned, IT BLOWS. But some pointers, shaving badges is WAY easy, just get some STRONG fishing line, a hair dryer. With the hair dryer heat up the badges (makes the glue loosen up) and then run the fishing line underneath the badge and there you go, then just get some goo off to get the remaining glue off (dont let it sit on the paint too long) then get some wax and finish off the job. Window decals are pretty self explainatory. How I did my brake calipers was I got some high heat primer, paint and clear coat from auto zone, took my calipers off, cleaned them up really good, threw a few coats of primer, then paint then some clear, just be sure to let them dry really well between coats. Any more questions feel free to shoot me a PM!!
