View Full Version : CAI and Winter
Ok, so a friend of mine told me that its not good to run a CAI in winter. I think this is total bull****, can anyone back this up. The intake is only bringing in ambient air, air that the motor is always surrounded by anyways so why would it be dangerous for the engine. Also, even during winter your engine runs at heats of 90 degrees (celius, sry im canadian lol) and has to be cooled down so wouldnt it actually help more by cooling your engine quicker.
This is all pretty confusing cause i didnt really think much before i typed it jsut decided to type it as it came to my mind.

I ran my CAI all winter, with no problems. If anything, it will draw in colder air from the outside and give you teh mad excess horsepower...

I've never had a bit of problems in any season. The car absolutly loves the Winters.

The stock RAM AIR setup also draws in cold air from the front of the car and if anything is probably a little colder (not by much if at all) than what you get from a CAI and it comes from the factory stock. Not to mention that regardless of how cold the air is when it comes into the engine it still is heated up going through the engine and in the compression stroke anyways.
Cliffs notes:
It don't hurt crap. Its no different in temp from stock. Your friend needs to stop assuming and start thinking (No offense).

This gets brought up every winter and everytime the answer is the same. It doesn't hurt a thing.
