I just installed the FFP pully. No problems on getting it on. First started it up it ran good. I drove it around for about 10 min then came back turned it off, then tried to start it again. It wouldnt start. Finally got it started then the engine light came on. Its a DTC P0336 code. I have a dhp scanner and tried to do a case learn but wouldnt let me. I dont know what to do now? Any idea why this is happening?

What was the error with the DHP scanner? It should of let you do the case learn. Did you have the car in neutral or park?

To do a CASE learn, the vehicle has to be at 160 ECT or above, in park with the A/C off and your foot on the brake. The CASE learn is basically its own little procedure.
A Tech 2 case learn goes something like this:
Cycle ignition from off to on.
Apply brake pedal and start engine with A/C off.
The Tech 2 waits for idle to stabilize and for ECT to reach 160 degrees or more.
While stilll holding the brake and in park, go WOT until you hit fuel cutoff then let off the gas completely.
An aftermarket scanner might not work until all of the above conditions are met. I've never used a DHP scanner for case learns before so I have no idea how it operates.

It has the same procedure but sometimes you have to do the test in neutral for you to get a completed test result.

is this a common problem for every vehicle, everytime the pulley is replaced?
the reason I ask is cause I'm wanting to get the pulley but want to know what to do when I get it.

I never had this problem when I put my pulley on. Just make sure that you transfer the ring to the exact same spot on the new pulley. The bottom of the ring (where the screws hold it) must fit flush with the pulley.

This info was originally posted by Tejohnson but can be found tons of places if you search a little...
From AlldataDIY:
CKP System Variation Learn Procedure
The crankshaft position system variation compensating values are stored in the PCM non-volatile memory after a learn procedure has been performed. If the actual crankshaft position system variation is not within the crankshaft position system variation compensating values stored in the PCM, DTC P0300 may set. Refer to Diagnostic Aid for DTC P0300.
The Crankshaft Position System Variation Learn Procedure should be performed if any of the following conditions are true:
* DTC P1336 is set.
* The PCM has been replaced.
* The engine has been replaced.
* The crankshaft has been replaced.
* The crankshaft harmonic balancer has been replaced.
* The crankshaft position sensor has been replaced.
IMPORTANT: The scan tool crankshaft position system variation learn function will be inhibited if engine coolant temperature is less than 70°C (158°F) . Allow the engine to warm to at least 70°C (158°F) before attempting the crankshaft position system variation learn procedure.
The scan tool crankshaft position system variation learn function will be inhibited if any powertrain DTCs other than DTC P1336 are set before or during the crankshaft position system variation learn procedure. Diagnose and repair any DTCs if set.
The crankshaft position system variation learn function will be inhibited if the PCM detects a malfunction involving the camshaft position signal circuit, the 3X reference circuit, or the 24X reference circuit.
* If the scan tool indicates a problem with the Cam signal, refer to DTC P0341 Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor Performance.
* If the scan tool indicates a problem with the 3X crank signal, refer to DTC P1374 3X Reference Circuit.
* If the scan tool indicates a problem with the 24X crank signal, refer to DTC P0336 24X Reference Signal Circuit.
1. Depress and hold the service brake pedal.
2. Block the drive wheels.
3. Ensure the hood is closed.
4. Start the engine and allow engine coolant temperature to reach at least 70°C (158°F) .
5. Turn OFF the ignition switch.
6. Select the crankshaft position variation learn procedure from the scan tool special functions list.
7. Follow the instructions displayed on the scan tool. If the procedure is terminated, refer to Important above for instructions.
8. Observe DTC status for DTC P1336.
9. If the scan tool indicates that DTC P1336 ran and passed, the crankshaft position system variation learn procedure is complete. If the scan tool indicates DTC P1336 failed or not run, check for other DTCs. If no DTCs other than P1336 are set, repeat the crankshaft position system variation learn procedure as necessary.

Ive done the case learn before. When im about to run the case learn a message comes up. It doesnt let me start the case learn. Do you have to transfer the ring with the holes from the old pulley to the new one. It runs good when it starts. Does it hurt performace if the light comes on?

Um, yeah. That ring with the square holes in it is the crank timing trigger. Without it your crank timing sensor kinda won't work and the car will run really bad.

alright its all done. Yeah so i guess i was told not to put it on from my teacher. I was pissed. It ran good when it started but now i did it in my garage tonight and its perfect. Just in time for Intense Drag Day friday! Thanks for your help

Teacher? Whats he teach, how to be a moron? I wouldn't listen to him anymore since it seems he doesn't know anything. Anyway, good to hear that fixed the problem. Do a case learn and go racing! :)

Evidentially the teacher hasn't learned to mimic what came off the car with parts that go back on the car. Either that he is one of those people that ask themselve, "why do we have these parts left?"
