Stock speakers with a new HU

I want to put a dvd player into my car, but I want to keep my stock speakers is that possible? If so what would I need?

Yeah the guys at drivers den (local stereo place) told me it would work just fine, just my factory amp wouldnt work anymore so not as much bump, you would also need to buy an adapter to get the wheel controls to work

The factory amp does the same thing as it would with the stock radio. It's still boosting the signal going to the speakers, but it'll probably be getting a hotter signal than the stock radio puts out.

He just needs to make sure he hooks up the remote lead from the new radio to the remote amp turn on (blue wire behind the stock radio) otherwise he won't get any sound out of his speakers.
