help installing lightened alt pulley

I am having trouble installing a lightened alt pulley. I cant find a way to hold the stock one so i can get enough tq on the nut to break it loose. How do i get that nut out of there? I tried leaving the belt on it to give me some tension but the pulley just slips on the belt.

way i always did it was remove the alt, using and impact gun and holding the pulley with my hand wearing a glove and hold tight and hit the trigger always buzzed them right off. if you dont have air tools you might try holding it with a strap type wrench while trying to break it loose

but if you took the alt off and went somewhere i bet they would charge you next to nothing to swap the pulleys out too

if i remember its only like 3 bolts, then the harness... its been over a year since i had to take it off...

Ok another problem, i just noticed that the stock alt pulley is substantially smaller than the aftermarket one i have. I assume this is going to cause problems, also when the nut is tightened all the way down there is still play in the pulley. I cant leave it like this. Do i have the wrong pulley? By substantially larger i mean the old fits inside of the new one. Help please.

Ummm yea...... thats not supposed to be like that. The one i had was pretty much exactly the same size as the stock one. You must have the wrong one. What place did you get this from?

I bought it from a guy on here. He said they were brand new. It came with a waterpump pulley in a set. The waterpump pulley went on fine, the car is warming up right now so i can go see if i can feel the difference the one made. Im gonna email him this afternoon and see what the deal is. Im not pissed just curious.
